ESSENTIAL FOR ADMISSION:

Police check: Students must complete a National Police Records or Fit-2-Work check on
admission to the course and on an annual basis.

International Police Checks: Any applicant who has resided in an overseas country for 12 months

Health status: Students must be prepared to declare their fitness for practice and immunisation
status prior to undertaking hospital/agency placements. It is recommended, students have
documented evidence of their current immunisation status, as the majority of clinical placements
venues require them. You can obtain this information from your local general practitioner or
council representative. Please note that some venues have additional immunisation requirements.
You need to submit a completed Immunisation Form signed off by a medical practitioner showing
you are fully vaccinated for the following:

• COVID-19 (3 doses)
• hepatitis B
• influenza (annually)
• pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, diptheria
• measles, mumps, rubella
• varicella (chickenpox)

Students must have successfully completed and submitted all mandatory documentation onto VU
WIL at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the block to remain enrolled in HNB1205
Foundations in Nursing 2. Students who have not successfully submitted documentation, will be
withdrawn from HNB1205.

Evidence of mandatory documents and vaccinations for placement is a hurdle for specific units in
year 2 and year 3. Students must provide evidence of achievement of the required vaccinations
and documents by 5pm on Friday of Week 3 of the Block in order to be eligible to pass the unit
and to go on placement. Evidence of annual flu vaccination is also required (subject to
availability).

Fitness for Practice: Students must be prepared to declare their fitness for practice on admission
and prior to undertaking hospital/agency placements by completing the Fitness for Practice
Declaration Form on inPlace.

The University has a duty of care to ensure that students who undertake professional experience
placements are both physically and mentally able, in a sustained manner, to engage in the
experience.

Early identification of fitness to practice concerns allows the University to discuss with students
potential reasonable adjustments to assist them to undertake their placement. Any agreed
adjustments must not compromise the safety and wellbeing of the student and must ensure safety
of the public.

Inherent requirements: This course requires you be able to demonstrate that you hold, or can

To obtain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, applicants must

Non-Refundable Deposit
Your tuition fee deposit includes a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 if you give written notice of a
withdrawal or an inability to study more than 90 days before the Course Start Date, otherwise a non-
refundable deposit of $3,000. There is only a non-refundable deposit for the first semester of the first
course – there is no non-refundable deposit for other Study Periods.

Compulsory Materials
In order to complete a course, you may be required to purchase certain materials. The price paid is
not considered part of your course fees. The approximate annual cost for books and stationery is
$650. Some courses may also have additional costs for resources such as materials, equipment,
uniforms and placements.

preferred supplier. Medibank exclusively offers Comprehensive OSHC to their education partners, and
cannot be purchased through other channels. It meets the student visa requirements for all course
types and provides a range of added value services that cannot be purchased separately, and are
above the Australian Federal Government’s minimum requirements. The OSHC fee is as per current
