1 BASIC INFORMATION
1.1 WELCOME
We welcome you as a buyer and user of one of our screens.
TYCANRThis instruction manual has been prepared to help you plan the
more practical arrangement for the installation and to guide it during operation and
maintenance of your screen; keep this manual for future reference.
There is a variety of different types of vibrating mechanical screens; their
sifter TYCANRit is the best machine in its class, as it has been designed to
satisfy their separation applications with great efficiency and economy.
In a certain sense, vibrating screens are mechanisms for testing
fatigue; the service expected from them justifies the use of the best design,
materials and labor. Its unit has been built with care and went through
factory tests before sending it. If you follow the instructions related to the
care and maintenance of the unit will ensure that the machine operates without
problems for many years.
The attached parts lists will help you when ordering your spare parts; you
we ask that you include the serial number of your shaker when placing orders for
spare parts, so that we can then review our detailed records, which will give us
the necessary data to send you the parts you requested, whenever you need them.
1.2 ENTREGA
Your machine is in perfect condition when placing it in transport; furthermore,
has been operated at normal speed for at least 8 hours in our factory and is

consider the storage requirements; the machine must be stored with
a cover, preferably in a place where the ambient temperature is
the constant and the air is not too humid. If you must store the machine in the air

Over time, rinse the bearings with hot oil and reapply grease before
to start up the sieve. Likewise, in case rinsing is required,
make sure to remove the drain plugs from the bearing housing and the assembly

to the month to ensure that the oil coating is maintained; the latter
it must be removed and replaced if the unit has been stored for a

Some of our units come lubricated with Oil Mist. Since the

2 PLANNING OF THE INSTALLATION

2.1 TYPICAL MOUNTING PROVISIONS
The TYCAN Class F screens always come with a base for the frame, which
it is built with heavy tubular pieces that are welded to prevent spillage;
its main longitudinal pieces are designed to have strength and
sufficient rigidity to support the body of the screen, so it is not required
do not place any continuous structural beam under the base beam.
When designing the support structure, take into account that there are three modalities.
of support; however, before listing them, we will first point out that, although, since
It has long been established as a practice in the industry to suspend the screens.
vibrant because that is what the policy establishes, we believe we should let you know the
fact that there have been incidents where fatigue has caused failures in the
mounting cables that have resulted in accidents. For this reason, we want to
recommend using direct support in the substructure; however, we
we are prepared to provide you with the necessary hardware with the measurements that
you request, in case you decide that cable suspension is the most
appropriate. Likewise, when using this support method, we suggest that you also
use auxiliary safety cables and interlocked fault switches
electronically.
The three types of support are as follows:
9Direct support of the frame base using a substructure.
9Cable suspension for the base of the frame using an aerial structure.
9One of the ends of the base of the unit mounted with the other that is
suspended on a cable.
Thanks to the strength and rigidity of the main base pieces, they can be used
very simple and versatile assembly systems. Likewise, they can be made
provisions in which the base is not secured to the support structure with bolts,
so that it can be quickly removed from the machine for maintenance
outside the facilities. In order to compensate for unforeseen variables in the
operation, use rotating brackets or a pin for cylindrical support to change
the installation angle simply. The following plane illustrates some of the
possible arrangements.
We recommend that you do not use any type of vibration isolator between the
base of the frame and the support structure, with a thickness greater than ½” of rubber
from 60; this has the main objective of taking care of any small
discrepancy in the alignment of the structure and the base piece. In case that the
support structure record vibration invariably, it is possible that the same

a load that vibrates. To correct this condition, weights must be screwed on that
dampen the vibrations. Generally, these should be located near the point
middle of the cable, but to find the exact point you must follow a process of
trial and error. It is possible that even longer cables may require more than one weight.
Sometimes, the suspension springs tend to wobble in a way

at an angle along the top of said springs.
It is necessary to inspect the wires to see that they are not frayed;
pay special attention to the part where they enter the set of sockets and in
where the weight was screwed in to reduce vibration. In order to avoid corrosion
hidden from the cables in those specific parts, it is necessary to lubricate them
periodically.

2.3 DESIGN OF THE SUPPORT STRUCTURE

The design of the support structure of any moving part involves two
basic points. First, of course, the force required for the structure: it must
be sufficient to support the machinery and any other load. The second point
it will eliminate the natural frequency of the structure, which may coincide with the
operating speed of the machinery.
These same points apply whether the machinery in question is a
vibrating screen or a motor, a pump, a fan, a compressor, etc. In case
that the operating speed of any of the machine parts
matches the natural frequency of one or more parts of the support structure, it
they will apply vibrational amplitude, which could be harmful to the machine and for the
structure and, in the best case, will annoy your staff.
When planning the load in the structure design, standard practice observes
three factors, which are the following:
9The actual weight of the vibrating screen, including auxiliary equipment, such as
motors, ducts, and fine hoppers.
9A load of material over all the mesh surfaces that is assumed will be a
six-inch deep bed.
9Add 40% to the totals described above to anticipate loads of
external impacts, future changes in the weight of the shaker or abnormal loads
that could occur if heavy loads accumulate in the sieve, such as
it could happen if any duct got clogged.
When designing to avoid the natural or critical frequency, in the case of the

it is advisable to keep the effective intervals to a minimum, so that it takes into

at least. In the case of long intervals, consider double the speed of
operation; also, keep in mind that when the support beams are not
directly connected to the vertical columns, the problem could be much
more serious, besides that it must avoid hanging the shaker's support from the framework
from the ceiling.

any other piece of equipment.

In order to separate any material into coarse and fine fractions, the thickness

recommended; this recommendation appears elsewhere in these instructions.
Although we may not have mentioned it as part of our
recommendation, keep in mind that it is also possible that, due to the small
uncontrollable changes caused by the characteristics of the material or even the
changes in the specifications of its products, it may be appropriate to make changes
in the inclination. We suggest that your plans include a variation of
more/less two degrees when designing the structure and the supply and ducting

efficient for feeding the shaker; the success of its installation may depend on this
important point.
In order to make the most of capacity and efficiency and to
minimize the maintenance of the surface material of the screen, place the
food area and align it with the center line of the shaker. Likewise, the
Feeding must be done at a uniform rate, in addition to the fact that the material must

Any positive feeding arrangement, that is, using a hopper of

compensation equipped with a vibrating feeder, is an excellent investment
when they are correctly chosen and installed. This type of power supply equipment must
have controls to time the feeder to the capacity of the screen; the
material must pass through the entire length of the vibrating screen at a speed that
goes from 50 to 90 feet per minute, depending on whether the job is classified as
calibrated or scalped. Avoid introducing the material into the feed to
higher speeds, since the stratification of the material bed, and the
subsequent disposal of waste will be affected in case of the

dry or wet materials; the arrangement works if the material flows freely and
There are no significant spills. The channels must be designed to integrate the
basic shelf or table for stones, in order to control the speed, the wear and
the distribution. Keep this in mind in case the material has been
transported on a conveyor belt, since, generally, it moves at
a speed much greater than that of the mesh surface.
Be very cautious when trying to design a split channel for

In addition, any channel used to transport the load to the feed

2.6 CONDUITS, HOPPERS AND COVERS

When I designed the feed mouth, the discharge ducts, the hoppers of
fines and any accessory for dust, must ensure very well that it exists
sufficient space for the exaggerated movement that occurs when tearing or
turn off the machine. Under no circumstances should the body of the shaker touch
no stationary object, which includes any type of accumulation of material
in the corners of the fine hoppers or in one of the openings for the product.
Vibrating screens are a complicated tension system, so it must be

you must add weight to the vibrating body without consulting our department

negative, in addition to putting performance at risk.

of such characteristics when planning the installation so that they can be part
original of the machine design or as a completely separate piece from the
structure.

sufficient slope to prevent the material from hanging. If it is being used
A closed box design, the interior area must not allow for the formation of
blockages, so we suggest that the openings have a depth not
less than 3 times the maximum size of the pieces.
During the design and erection of these openings, keep in mind that it should not be

they can be hinged or configured in a way that allows them to be lifted and removed

2.8 HOPPER FOR FINES

The hoppers for fines are almost always built to collect the waste from
the stone that passes through the filtration surface. This type of hopper must be supported by

What the bearings of the axle assembly transport.
This type of hopper must be supported independently of the body of the
vibrating screen, in addition to being designed so that the body has a
space of at least two inches. The sloped sides of the hopper must have a
sufficient angle to prevent fine material from accumulating in the valleys.
the download opening must be quite large, as in case the body of the
sifter collided with the accumulated material, the effect is the same as if the body
hit against a solid object.
Sometimes it is necessary for the technicians to enter the area that is immediately
under the sieve; so you must take into account that you need to have access to
esta área al diseñar la tolva para finos, de suficiente tamaño para que entre una
person.
2.9 ACCESS PLATFORMS
You must provide work platforms for the operators so that
they can observe the team's performance. When I designed these platforms,
make sure to take into account the space requirements and the ease of
access to change the surface of the screens. In case you have several
desktop units, it is preferable to work from the unloading end of the
machine. Design the discharge channels so that they can be moved from their
position quickly and easily;
Additionally, keep in mind the space requirements of the platforms.
The workload will be greater if body and assembly repairs are carried out.
of the axis. In addition to the space requirements, keep in mind that some of the
parts that must be handled during the reconditioning of the assembly of
axles are quite large and heavy. In case the size of the unit is
quite large, it is possible that the parts that will need to be handled during the
repairs require the use of a chain as otherwise, the safety of
the workers would be affected. The most important parts are the axis, the
counterweights, the bearing and its respective frame. The instructions include a list
what specifies the weight of these components.
Likewise, you can obtain the tools to pull and push the
assembly of the shaft of the TYCAN screensRTo use them, you need a space

The body of the shaker must be built with vibrating covers, which does not
it is highly recommended for several reasons: it adds unnecessary weight to the body of the

that are connected with sufficient firmness and rigidity to withstand the action of

Food and the product are perpetual maintenance items.
In some facilities, there is an attempt to completely enclose the shaker: something
how to build a small room around the unit. If you are considering
seriously this method, keep in mind that its operators must provide service
to the vibrating screen periodically.
Similarly, a hermetic cabinet can be included: a stationary box
built to envelop the vibrating body, but unlike the complete box,
this exposes vital parts such as the axis set and the stations of
tension of the shaker. In reality, the box does not touch any part of the movable body, already

inward through all possible openings, which efficiently avoids
that the air escapes with dust from inside the box.
You must calculate the volume of air that needs to be removed from inside the box that
covers the sifter, for which there are several factors: the material that is fed to the
body of the sieve or the products that fall into the hoppers tend to displace the
air; in case the feed opening or the mouths through which it
the products downloaded are larger than necessary to exceed the volume of
material, the air will enter through them. Likewise, we recommend that
put a contact seal between the moving parts and the stationary parts of the box
hermetic; however, in practice, there is a small round opening by the
that air can enter. The component that remains to be considered is the effect of
bellows in the movement of the body of the sifter.

When carrying out wet screening operations, the feed of the screen

When the separation is carried out under dry conditions, the material bed is

the bed of material, gravity ensures that they fall through the openings
from the sieve;
however, in the case of wet separation, the fines are removed by the
water flow that runs through the openings of the sieves after they have been
suspended in the water. It is obvious that if the fine particles are well distributed in the liquid
As they are fed into the shaker, they will be removed more efficiently.
It is possible that when making the preliminary mix of the feed with the water, it should
dilute up to two parts of solids with one part of water, or perhaps in equal parts of
solids and water; that is, from 2 to 4 gallons (U.S. measure) per minute
for every ton/hour of feed to the screen.

While the correct operating voltage is misleading, it is necessary for
any transmission of V-belts, as no other factor has as much

When replacing the belts, tighten them 1 ½ times the normal tension, since
this decreases rapidly when the machine is used for the first time. If the

3.2.5 VELOCIDAD
Our application engineers determined the rotation speed

of the movement, the direction of rotation, and the efficiency requirements of the

Since both the body and the arms are opposite to the center of rotation of

In the case of the Class F design, the axle assembly is perfectly balanced.
when the circular movement of the lateral arms is exactly the same
size that the circular movement of the body of the sieve, so to determine
if the unit is balanced it is a relatively simple task: just do
a visual comparison of the size of the circles generated by a brand
on the side arm and some point of the body of the sifting machine that is near the arm.
When I see that the circles of those parts are not the same, generally
It means that the machine is not balanced; if the circle of the body of the sifter is
smaller than the circle of the lateral arm, this means that the force of
the counterbalance is not large enough to support the centrifugal force of
body of the sifter. Therefore, the counterweight must increase in value; this

of the wheel.
On the other hand, when the body circle of the sieve is too large,
the counterweight force will need to be reduced.
Class F screens always operate at their service speed for several

compensate the extra mouth placed at the end of the discharge, in order to avoid
the distortion of the amplitude of circular motion at the level of the ends of the
machine. The total added weight will obviously have an adverse effect on the lifespan

Similarly, a hermetic cabinet can be included: a stationary box

that the air escapes with dust from inside the box.
You must calculate the volume of air that needs to be removed from inside the box that
covers the sifter, for which there are several factors: the material that is fed to the

bellows in the movement of the body of the sifter.

4 LUBRICATION PROCEDURES
4.1 LUBRICATION OF THE ROLLER BEARINGS
The load of the bearings of all TYCAN screensRit is calculated
carefully, in addition to the fact that its size is chosen to achieve the greatest
benefit from its useful life. The bearings we use are selected to have
a closed tolerance outside the diameter and the free space of the roller. The connection
of the bearings with the shaft and within the frame is controlled so that it
maintain the desired internal space within the bearing. However, the bearings
they will not have the expected lifespan if lubrication practices are not followed
appropriate, One of the most common causes of bearing failures in the
vibrating screens is the application of inadequate, contaminated lubricants, or
Well, that not enough lubricant is applied.
4.2 SELECTION OF FAT
Many years of experience have taught us that vibrating screens
high speed require a lubricant that has specific properties. It
it can use a different degree in the various possible operating conditions;
you must take into account both the ambient temperature, which is the temperature of the
atmosphere surrounding the machine, such as the operating temperature of the bearing. In
generally, the grease must be oil with a viscosity of no less than 100 S.S.U. at
operating temperature of the bearing within its cavity.
This temperature should range from 130°F, in the case of small machines, to
175°F approximately, in the case of large and heavy units, when the
ambient temperature is 'normal'. The TYCAN screensRthey come lubricated from

The TYCAN screensRequipped with labyrinth seals must be lubricated in
eight-hour operation intervals when lubricated manually; this
This means that if it operates for a full shift, the shaker should be greased at

that the sifter ignites more easily in the next operating period. After

with the size of the bearing; however, it is advisable to count the jets that

Follow the lubrication procedure described to ensure that there is
sufficient grease within the bearing cavity and to prevent the material Important!
strange that it accumulates in the seals and around returns to the bearing chamber.
We can add that in the case of wet operations, the amount of fat
it should be even more generous, in addition to recommending using fat based on
lithium; it should be stored in a container with a lid, preferably in the packaging
Furthermore, this container should be kept in a clean place, as if the
fat gets contaminated with dirt or abrasive material will present failures sooner than
forecasted, regardless of the care taken to lubricate the bearings.

5 MAINTENANCE
5.1 DAILY INSPECTION
9Examine the screens section for broken or worn areas.
9Look for unusual sounds, as they could indicate that there is a loose bolt, a
damaged bearing, etc.
9Make sure that lubricant comes out of the seals that are on the frame of the
bearing, as this indicates that the unit has been properly lubricated.
5.2 WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
9Check the tension of the mesh sections.
9Check the visible nuts and bolts of the vibrating body and make sure that
have not loosened.
9Check the bolts of the bearing frame and those of its seals and make sure that
none has loosened.
9Examine the power supply and its casing, as well as any other
integrated lining to the body of the screen in relation to wear.
9Check the wear condition of the drive belts and the tension of
the transmission and ensure that the belts have not flipped in the grooves.

when subjected to the heat of arc welding or a cutting operation
with a torch. The broken parts will experience significant fatigue before failing, so
that welding is just a temporary repair.
We recommend that you consider this type of repairs as
emergency, so you must place an order for spare parts with the factory
immediately.
