Include a headline to attract people:

Description that tells people what’s the group about once they
click on the photo:

[Your FB group name] is a platform to share tips and techniques on

[your target market]. The Founder of this group is [your name],

who [your relevant credential in the target market].

Join the group now: [Include link to your FB group]

Tips : you should use the same cover photo for your FB group so that the audience
won’t be wondering if they’re at the right page.

Step 2 Check your Profile picture

Checklist for your profile photo:


Photo is close up, shows your face
You look happy, approachable, friendly, & professional.
Resonate with your target audience (e.g.if your group is about traveling, use
travel pics)

Step 3 Write your biography

Limit to 140 characters. May use emojis as humans are visual beings and responds
to certain symbols. Tell who your help, what you help to achieve and how you do it:

I help [target audience] to solve

[target audience problem] by [your product/ service] .

Step 4 Featured photos

Group’s name and logo (if available) included
Call to action (arrows pointing to the link to your FB group)

Step 5 Clean up your sidebar

Checklist for your sidebar:


Clear information about your past jobs, the schools you went to or any personal
details.
Only has information that gets people into your group. List only ONE thing that is
currently relevant to your group and target audience.
Has a link to your Facebook group (refer to step 6)

If you want to add a link to your FB page from another source than
your FB profile, use short links.

Use bitly.com to create short link

Step 6 Adjust your profile setting

a) Use these Privacy settings:


Who can see your future posts? - Public

Who can send you friend requests? - Everyone

Who can see your friends list? - Public

Who can look you up using the email address you provided? - Friends or
Everyone (Depends on the purpose of the email you provided)

Who can look you up using the phone number you provided? - Friends or
Everyone (Depends on the purpose of the number you provided)

Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile? - Yes

b) Use these Timeline and Tagging settings:


Who can post on your timeline? - Only me (Since your profile is set to be very
open, you don’t want others, especially trolls, posting on your profile).

Who can see what others post on your timeline? - Only me

Allow post sharing to stories? On

Hide comments containing certain words from your timeline? - On or Off


(Depends if you want people cursing in their comments)

Who can see posts you’re tagged in on your timeline? - Only me

When you’re tagged in a post, who do you want to add to the audience of the
post if they can’t already see it? - Only me

Review posts you’re tagged in before the post appears on your timeline? - On

Review tags people add to your posts before the tags appear on Facebook? - On

c) Use these Public Posts settings:

Who can follow me? - Public

Who can comment on your public posts? - Public (Helps with engagement,
especially if you go and engage with those comments yourself)

Get notifications from - Public

Who can like and comment on your public profile pictures and other profile info?
- Public

d) Set up ‘lists’ on your FB profile so that only certain people see


certain posts.
- You might not want some people to see some of your posts, but still want
them in your friends list. These people will still be able to see your cover photo
and featured photo.
- Set up lists:

Scroll down to the bottom of the left menu in Facebook, click See More and click
Friend Lists.

Click Create List and name the list (Family, Ex-coworkers etc).

Add members into the list and click Create.

When you create posts later, you will get the option to include or exclude the
lists that you have created from viewing the post.

Step 7 Invite friends and network to join (if it’s relevant
to them).

Sent invites to people who might be interested

Ask early members to invite others who might be suitable for the group.

Use a lead magnet “Comment Ladder” pinned-post to kick off the group
membership

I have compiled [information relevant to your target audience],


comment “I am interested!” and I will send it to you.
