I. INTRODUCTION
This research explores the effectiveness of the Department of Education (DepEd)
Computerization Program (DCP) in enhancing essential skills such as their digital
literacy, problem-solving and critical thinking among students at Calendola National
High School (CNHS). The study focuses on how the program has impacted the
learning experience, particularly for the Grade 10 students preparing to graduate in
the academic year 2024-2025 and examines its broader influence on their academic
development and readiness in the near future.
II. VARIABLE
Independent Variable: DepEd Computerization Program
this is the program we are evaluating, and it is being manipulated or observed
for its effects.
Dependent Variable: Skills Development
this is the outcome we are measuring, as it depends on the implementation or
impact of the DepEd Computerization Program.
This shows that us, researchers are investigating on how the DepEd
Computerization Program (DCP) affects the development of skills among students.
III. OBJECTIVES
1. Evaluate students digital skills development.
2. Identify challenges in the program.
3. Provide recommendations for improvement.
IV. SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
The researchers will use a convenience sampling technique to gather data from
Grade 10 students at Calendola National High School (CNHS) during the school year
2024-2025 specifically those students whose course in the subject Technology and
Livelihood Education (TLE) is Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Convenience sampling technique or method is a non-probability sampling technique
where the researchers select participants who are easiest to access or most convenient
to reach. In this method, the sample is chosen based on factors like proximity,
availability, or willingness to participate, rather than on random selection. This makes
the data collection process quicker and more cost-effective. Since the participants are
easily accessible within the school, this sampling method will allow us to efficiently
collect relevant information from students who are directly impacted by the DepEd
Computerization Program (DCP).
V. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This study will use the mixed-methods research methodology as the
researchers will conduct surveys and interviews to assess students experiences with
the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) and to evaluate it's impact among the
said participants.
RESEARCH POPULATION
The target group for our research consists of graduating students at CNHS for
the school year of 2024-2025. We chose graduating students for they are the best
respondents we can think of as they experienced and witnessed the full impact of the
DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) throughout their high school years, and
because they are the ones that will enter senior high school for the next academic year.
VI. RESEARCH DESIGN
EXPLANATORY
Our research aims to establish a clear cause-and-effect relationship by evaluating
the impact of the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP) on graduating students.
Through systematic investigation and data collection, we seek to analyze how
participation in the program influences various academic and personal outcomes for
students approaching graduation.
VII. RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. Who is being affected by the DepEd Computerization Program in this study?
This study focuses on graduating students at Calendola National High School
for the 2024-2025 school year. These students are directly impacted by the
DepEd Computerization Program (DCP).
2. What specific skills are you looking at when you measure "skills development"?
We are specifically looking at digital literacy, technical skills, and critical
thinking that students develop through the use of computers and technology in
their education. Also, because technology has been in great use since the
earlier generations making it essential for them to effectively use. These skills
not only help students in their studies but are also important for their future
careers and daily life.
3. Where is this study taking place?
The research is to be conducted at Calendola National High School, where the
DepEd Computerization Program is currently in use among students.
4. When will you be collecting data for this research?
Data will be collected during the 2024-2025 school year, with a focus on the
students who are set to graduate by the end of the school year.
5. Why is it important to evaluate the impact of the DepEd Computerization Program
on students?
It is important because the program has the potential to shape students' future
opportunities. By evaluating its impact, we can understand whether it
effectively develops important skills like digital literacy, which are essential in
today’s tech-driven world.
6. How will you measure the skills development of the students?
Skills development will be measured through a combination of surveys and
interviews. This will help evaluate how well students have grasped the skills
the program intends to teach.
