This course is the first part of the practicum portion of the Teacher Education Program. The

the first part of the entire practicum of the pre-service teacher-education program, has for its terminal
objective the gradual initiation of the student teacher to the world f teaching. Both parts (Observation
and Participation, and Student Teaching) are the integrative capstones of the teacher education
program. Here, opportunities are given to the sstudent teacher to “weld theory into practice through
the application of concepts, principles and ideas gleaned from instructional specialists” (Slick, et. Al
1995) in teacher institutions.

outcomes as demonstrated by cooperating teachers;

3. Observe and participate in the different facets of classroom and school work in order to gain the
necessary teacher’s skills and right attitudes; and

On Rules:

Rules on Observation and participation are made for your own good as student teachers and not
to make life and study more difficult for you. If you are a conscientious student teacher, you may not
even feel that there are rules prohibiting you to be late, to waer anything you like to wear as you enter a
class, to do as you wish because you do things as you should. However, if you are the happy-go-lucky

type of student teacher, you will certainly feel suffocated by the rules on punctuality, attendance,
conduct, uniform, submission pf requirements, etc.

There is a purpose or reason behind every rule. And the purpose is for your own good, for your
growth and development as a teacher. We live in an emperfec world and we too are far from being
perfect. Not all that we like to do and to be are goos food us. Thus these rules.
