WORK FORMAT

On this page, we provide a series of technical specifications regarding the steps for the
elaboration of a Scientific Work.

Far from being the final word on the subject, it is important to emphasize the significance of the student
always pay attention to the indications provided by your Work Supervisor or by the Educational Institution, a
since there is no unquestionable uniformity regarding the ideal model for the technical presentation of works
scientists.

The official standard followed in Brazil is the one disseminated here, seeking to demonstrate, although, as already
referred, without the intention of exhausting the study of technical standards, step by step, how one should proceed to
format your scientific work on your computer according to ABNT rules.

The typing (or typesetting) will be done on only one side of the paper (legal size), which must be the size
A4, that is, 29.7 x 21 cm (297mm x 210mm), in double space and printed, preferably, in black.
The font size (pitch) recommended by the ABNT standard is 12 for the body of the text and 10 for the citations.
long notes and footnotes (NBR 14724:2001), it may be that there is a certain fluctuation between 11 and 14, according to the
font type chosen by the student, as close as possible to the indicated size.

There is no exact definition in the ABNT standards regarding the typeface that should be used in the preparation.
of scientific work, that is, there is no strictness regarding this, as it is a recommendation, not a
obligation.

It is recommended that the student use the Arial or Times New Roman fonts, preferably, among others.
possible (Bookman Old Style, Courier new, Garamond, Tahoma, etc), as long as there is no opposition from
do Orientador do trabalho ou da Instituição de Ensino (devendo-se ter o cuidado de observar, caso ocorra
variation in font size, as close as possible to the Arial or Times New Roman standard.

Other tips:

Acronyms - When it appears for the first time in the text, the full form precedes the acronym placed in between
parentheses. Ex. Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (ABNT).

Illustrations - Must be identified at the bottom, preceded by the designative word (drawing; diagram;
photograph; chart; flowchart; plan; board, etc) followed by its order of occurrence number in the text,
in Arabic numerals, of the respective title and/or explanatory caption in a brief and clear manner.
