 Introduction
The Art Models project provides reference photos for figure
artists. These photos are traditionally nude. This book,
however, presents a variety of our non-nude photos, making it
suitable, for example, for classrooms below the college level
or situations in which nudes are not appropriate.
Organization
Intentionally, no overarching theme organizes this collection.
Instead, the poses were chosen primarily by visitors to our
website through their purchases and selections as favorites. To
that collection, poses were added to round out the variety of
postures. Finally, poses suitable for portraiture and expressions
were added. See the following few pages for a preview of all
the photos. We hope every artist—or aspiring artist—will find
photos in this book that will inspire practice or the creation of
finished works of art.

Contains just the photos in this ebook at a relatively low
resolution designed to work with most eReaders.

Companion Disk or Download (medium price)
Has every view of every pose in maximum resolution as
individual JPG files, intended for use on PC, Mac, or

 An “Enhanced” eBook
External Content
Our Enhanced eBooks contain exclusive links to access
material on a dedicated companion website. When you buy an
enhanced ebook, you are also getting access to all of that
content. For example, in Art Models 9, there are 94 photos in
the ebook, but well over 1,800 photos of higher resolution
accessible through the links in the book. This allows us to
bring you more content than a typical ebook can handle. Also,
you only download what you choose to view, rather than all of
it at once; saving you storage space and data transmission.
However, internet access is required.

Why an External Site?

Ebook readers were designed to display simple flowing

text. They vary widely in their support for any other
features, like photos or video. Web browser support for a
variety of media is much better. By linking to an external
site, it is much more likely you will be able to see
everything.
Rather than waiting for a very large book to download all
at once, clicking links in this book brings you to a
website where just the required content is sent. This is
important if you are charged for data. It also saves storage
space on your device.
Because eReaders are all different, the photos in the book
need to be resized to the lowest common denominator.
Having them on an external site allows for higher fidelity.
Many ebook retailers limit book sizes or charge high fees
for delivering large files (or both). Having external
content bypasses this limitation.

Making Photos Work in eReaders
If the photos are not displaying well, please experiment
with your reader’s settings or, if you can, even try a
different reader app.
This book adheres to the EPUB3 standard and passed validation.

On PC, Mac, or Laptop

Every display device is different and the photos will look
different on each one. Try resizing the display window. We set
the photos to a 3 by 4 ratio or higher. If you resize the window
to, for example, about 600x900 pixels or 800x1175 (a little
extra height to allow for titles and margins) that should
produce a good display of the images. Often, that will fix the
problem of parts of the photos being outside the view. Some
experimentation is required to get the best results.

Dedicated Readers
We gave extra attention to dedicated reading devices, like
Kindle readers, where you cannot change the display window.
We tested on actual Kindle devices as well as in the Kindle
Previewer simulator. Also, iPad, Nook, and Android phone
were tested. Nevertheless, we can’t test every device. If you
are not getting good results, try changing display settings;
sometimes found under Fonts, or Settings, or More Options, or
ooo.

Reading Apps
Apps vary in their ability to display large images well.
Sometimes changing settings will give a better view. For
example, the Aldiko app was clipping photos until Advanced
Formatting was turned off. If one Reader App does not work
well, we recommend trying another one, if you can. Please
experiment.
 This book was designed to the EPUB3 standard and was verified using
ePubCheck 4. If it does not display properly, it is likely that your Reader App
is not adhering to the standard. You can help by contacting the company that
makes your Reader and letting them know you want it to work with EPUB3
photos and video.

Zooming
Every device or app is also different in how it supports
zooming of images. Here are some methods that may work:

Pinch out to zoom in.

Double-tap, wait a moment, then pinch to zoom.
Tap and long hold then pinch to zoom.
Right-click is worth trying.

To exit zoom, sometimes double-tapping worked, sometimes

there’s an [X], sometimes a <– symbol, or the back button.
Some apps simply refuse to zoom images, for example, the
Nook app on some devices did not work.
