2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
SEMP TCL
2.1. SAFETY PRECAUTION ITEMS:
2.1.1. Before returning the device to the customer, always check the following items of
device:
[Link]. Make sure there is no damaged protective component before or after
of the service, on the device.
[Link]. PROTECTIVE BLANKETS (Plastic covers, insulators, heat-shrinkable sleeves, foams of
drunk, etc.), are placed in the devices for the protection of the client and the technician.
Reinstall or replace these protective shields in the same location where they were.
withdrawals, leaving the device in its original conditions.
2.1.2. Do not handle or allow the handling of devices without all protective components.
are correctly installed and functioning.
2.2. ACCESS TO THE DEVICE:
Ensure there are no openings in the cabinet (once assembled) where children or adults may have access.
access and touch 'live' (electrically energized) parts, causing shocks. Do not replace or
modifying the cabinet or parts of it with non-original parts, leaving openings that are very large where they
may access living parts.

2.3. INSULATION RESISTANCE

2.3.1. Disconnect the power cord from the outlet and short-circuit its terminals.
2.3.2 Turn on the POWER switch (On/Off) of the device, if available, or turn on some function. TV by
example.
2.3.3. Measure with a Megohmmeter, the resistance between the terminals of the short-circuited power cable and
all exposed metal parts of the device, such as screws, telescopic antenna, terminals of
antenna, input/output terminals, output terminal for headphones, etc. If the metal part has a return of
current through the chassis, we should find values between 1 and 5.2 megohms. If the metal part does not have
current return through the chassis, the instrument should indicate values much higher than these.
If none of these limits are met, there is some metallic part short-circuited with the chassis.
potentially causing electric shocks, explosions, or even fires.
2.4. SECURITY COMPONENTS
2.4.1. Some electrical and mechanical components have special characteristics to meet the
security requirements are not identified only by visual inspection.
These components cannot be replaced by similar ones of higher voltage, power, or
heat dissipation, etc.
2.4.3. The component should be identified by an electrical diagram or mechanical drawing
normalized (which will indicate whether the component is or is not safety-related) of the device, and thus
replace it. This measure will prevent damage to the device, the technician, and the customer. These components
are identified by the symbol .
2.4.3. Security components are being continuously reviewed and new specifications are
released.
2.5. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PRECAUTIONS:
ATTENTION: Before performing any maintenance mentioned in this Service Manual, read and follow the
Item 2.1. SAFETY PRECAUTION ITEMS. NOTE: If for any reason there is a conflict or
doubts between TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PRECAUTIONS and PRECAUTION ITEMS
SAFETY, always follow the SAFETY PRECAUTION ITEMS.

2.5.1 Always disconnect the appliance power cord from the outlet when:
[Link] Remove or install any component, circuit board, module, or other assembly.
[Link] Disconnect or connect any connector of the device.
[Link] When connecting a measuring instrument, always connect the ground terminal first.
ground instrument from the plate that will be measured. Always remove the ground terminal from
instrument finally.
2.5.2. When the maintenance of a device is finished, set the voltage selector switch to
(there is), in the position of 220V.
