PRACTICE REPORT WITH LOGO
PRACTICE No. 1

INTRODUCTION.

The automation laboratory of the Technical University of Cotopaxi conducted the

simulation practice with the logo that was successfully completed by the 6th grade students
parallel course B, the practice focused on the topic of start-stop of a motor with programming
in logo, the practice to be developed helps the future professional stay updated with the
jobs that are being carried out within the industry today, the industry is more focused
in automation for that reason the industrial engineer must have basic knowledge of
Automation and this is achieved through these practical activities

OBJECTIVES.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE.
• Analyze and provide the necessary knowledge to understand the functioning of
control of a LOGO–PLC through practice in a didactic module for
student learning.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES.
• Understand the basic concepts of control and handling of a PLC–LOGO and its
respective modules, three-phase motors, star-delta connections and vice versa
in addition to their connection links.
• Develop an electrical design to upgrade the educational modules that include
state-of-the-art devices.
• Set up the communication records for their respective transmission links.
data and connections between devices, for the successful development of the practice.
• Identify the different types of inputs and outputs that can be connected to a PLC.

DEVELOPMENT.

To carry out this practice, a series of steps was taken which will be shown in the
Illustration 1–Process Diagram (Practice).
Illustration 1 - Process Diagram (Practice)

Step 1. March-Stop Diagram.

A scheme was created in CADe SIMU for Start-Stop for a three-phase motor, this
The diagram will help us know how we are going to connect the elements on the board.
It will also help guide us in programming, to know what inputs and outputs
they are going to be used.

Step 2. PLC Programming.
Después de realizar el esquema que nos va a servir como base para guiarnos en la

V8.3, this programming will allow the PLC to control the inputs and outputs according to
what we need.

Illustration 3 - Start-Stop Programming

Being a basic Start-Stop programming, the programming is very simple.

We arrange the entries according to our scheme.
Step 3. Simulation of the scheme and programming.
Having our scheme and programming done, we can now move on to our
dashboard, but before that, to ensure that our scheme and
The programming is fine, a simulation was carried out with the help of CADe SIMU.

This is how we verify if everything works well, and in case it doesn't work, it will be corrected.
what is wrong.

Step 4. Upload the program to the PLC.
Upon verifying that the scheme and the schedule are correct, preparations began to prepare the
control panel in industrial electrical control laboratories. The PLC was powered on.
And we proceeded to upload the programming to the PLC via the network cable.

Step 5. Connect the control circuit.

After uploading the programming, connections for the inputs were made.
PLC outputs according to our scheme. The NC button at I1, the NO button at
I2, the Zeta type NC push button and the output of Q1 to A1 of the contactor coil.
Each of these inputs and outputs is connected to phase 1 (L1), and the output of
Contactor A2 will connect to line 2 (L2) or to neutral (N), this will depend on whether 110V or
220V.

Illustration 6 - Connection of inputs and outputs on the control panel.

Before proceeding to connect the power circuit of the three-phase motor, we will test if
the control circuit works well, checking if the contactor coil is activated.
Step 6. We connect the power circuit.
When checking the operation of the control circuit, we proceed to connect the circuit of
force, from the three-phase power source that already has protection, we connect three
cables which will go to the main contact inputs of the contactor, then,
we connect three wires to the outputs of the main contacts of the contactor and the
we connect to the terminals of the three-phase motor.

And finally, we connect a pilot light in parallel to the coil of the contactor, this light
The pilot light will serve as an indicator that the coil is energized.

RESULTS.

When putting our Start-Stop circuit of a three-phase motor into operation, it

It could be evidenced that thanks to precautions such as circuit simulation before
transfer to the control panel and test the control circuit before connecting the circuit of
Strength, it helped us ensure the proper functioning of our circuit.

according to the requirements. Activating the motor with the NO button and turning off the motor with
the NC button. And stopping the operation of the entire circuit preventing the PLC from
turn off with the push button type Zeta NC.
Thus fulfilling with satisfaction practice No. 1 (Start-Stop of a three-phase motor)
with satisfaction.
CONCLUSIONS.

• A start-stop design of a three-phase motor was experimented with using

a module communicated via a network key, the controls and the method were selected
to act on the buttons, which was able to operate in a way
correcting by adding pilot lights and an emergency stop.
• To be able to manipulate a programmable logic controller, one must keep in mind the
concepts since with the necessary knowledge we will be able to use it properly
and this will help us choose and develop a suitable team.
• Through the completion of this practice, it helps the students' understanding of
direct manner, based on knowledge and application which will be of great
importance for their training as future professionals.

RECOMMENDATIONS.

• Technology advances every day, which is why a recommendation is to keep studying new things.
automation alternatives since it is the cover letter in the field for a
industrial engineer.
• Take into account the technical specifications of the instruments such as they are
IP addresses that are within the same network for data transfer.
• Verify that the electrical outlet in the module to be used provides the appropriate voltage for
each team and that is equipped with their due protections to avoid damage.
