SMB read only !?
Simple Problem:
After updating to ios 18 i my smb nas is read only via Files App. Other tools can access my nas and write
data.
So i waited for 18.2. Nothing fixed!
Anybody any Information about that? I will ask apple, but mostly they do not care.

I'll come with answer for that, there's a flag to set on smb config file to make it writeable by ios/macos.
I'm not home atm will check it once I'm home.

Try this flag at the bottom of [profile] you have

So I'm home now and I checked my [Link] file. Speaking of which I'm using samba
software on ubuntu. But above flag should work even if you're using synology or similar(with
some caveats maybe). My full config looks like this:

The only thing that was missing to make it writeable was the catia fruit thingy. I'm no expert on
the subject but if you google said flag line you'll get more info. Good luck!

Hi this was super helpful.
For anyone who wants to know more there is more info if you run
man vfs_fruit
Also when I ran testparm i got a warning
Load smb config files from [Link]
Loaded services file OK.
Weak crypto is allowed
WARNING: some services use vfs_fruit, others don't. Mounting them in conjunction
I instead put this flag under global and didn't get any warning
vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr

yeah, it does work for copying file into smb server.
but the problem is when i add streams_xattr is i still cannot delete files on the smb server from
ios, and the more problem is i also cannot delete file from windows. so at this point i prefer to
use third-party app like Owlfiles.

Try adding the following to the very end of [Link]:
# Shared Folder
[your-shared-folder-name]
path = /path/to/shared/folder
read only = no
force user = your-username
NOTE: Tutorials and questions answered online will stipulate "read_only = no" with
underscore, but it only worked for me after omitting the underscore.

I use the Owlfiles app instead as that can still have full permissions for Samba shares.
