Install Ubuntu Without USB (Using Grub2Win)

� Goal
• Remove Windows.
• Install Ubuntu Linux.
• No USB/DVD.
• Boot directly from ISO stored on your drive.

� Risks Before You Start


• If ISO download is corrupted, install may fail.
• Wrong Grub2Win config can prevent booting.
• “Erase disk” will permanently remove Windows and all files.
• If power is lost during install, recovery may require USB.
Always back up your important data before proceeding.

� What You Need


• A Windows PC with internet access.
• At least 10–20 GB of free disk space (more is better).
• Admin rights in Windows.
• Grub2Win (bootloader tool).
• Ubuntu ISO file (~4.5 GB).
• No USB or DVD required.

� STEP 1: Download Ubuntu ISO


1. Go to: [Link]
2. Choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or another recent version.
3. Download the .iso file (~4.5 GB).
4. Move the .iso file to your C: drive, e.g., C:\[Link].
� Tip: Keep the file name simple and lowercase.

� STEP 2: Install Grub2Win


1. Visit: [Link]

2. Download the installer and run it.
3. Complete the installation (accept defaults).
4. Open Grub2Win.

� STEP 3: Add Ubuntu ISO to Boot Menu


1. In Grub2Win, click “Manage Boot Menu”.
2. Click “Add A New Entry”.
3. Fill in:
• Type: ISO
• Title: Ubuntu Installer
• Partition: Select the drive where C:\[Link] is located.
• ISO file path: \[Link] (just like that — no C:)
4. Click OK, then Apply, then Save.
5. Close Grub2Win.

� STEP 4: Reboot and Start Ubuntu Installer


1. Restart your computer.
2. At boot, Grub2Win’s menu appears.
3. Select “Ubuntu Installer”.
4. When Ubuntu boots, choose “Install Ubuntu”.
If it fails to boot: - Double-check the ISO file path. - Try redownloading the
ISO. - Disable Secure Boot in BIOS if needed.

� STEP 5: Install Ubuntu (Erase Windows)


1. Choose the “Erase disk and install Ubuntu” option.
2. Follow the setup prompts:
• Select language, timezone, keyboard.
• Create your user account.
3. Click Install Now.
4. Wait 10–20 minutes for installation to finish.
� This will permanently delete Windows and all files.

� STEP 6: Final Reboot


1. After install completes, click Restart Now.
2. If prompted to remove installation media, just press Enter.

3. Your system should now boot directly into Ubuntu.

� Optional Cleanup
• Delete [Link] from your hard drive if still there.
• Grub2Win is no longer needed — Ubuntu now controls the bootloader.
