Introduction..
The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage -INTCH It is Indias largest non-profit membership organization
Dedicated to conservation and preservation of Indias natural, cultural, living, tangible and intangible heritage. It was founded in 1984 in New Delhi, Today it has Chapters in 170 Indian cities, as well as Chapters in Belgium and the United Kingdom.
INTACH has taken up restoration and protection of monuments that fall outside the coverage of Archaeological Survey of India
Objectives..
Sensitize the public about the pluralistic cultural legacy of India; Instil a sense of social responsibility towards preserving our common heritage; Protect and conserve our living, built, and natural heritage by undertaking necessary actions and measures; Document unprotected buildings of archaeological, architectural, historical and aesthetic significance; and cultural resources, as this is the first step towards formulating conservation plans;
Objectives..
Develop heritage policy and regulations, and make legal interventions to protect our heritage when necessary; Provide expertise in the field of conservation, restoration and preservation of specific works of art; and encourage capacity building by developing skills through training programs; Undertake emergency response measures during natural or manmade disasters, and support local administration whenever heritage is threatened; Foster collaborations, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and partnerships with government and other national and international agencies; and Generate sponsorships for conservation and educational projects.

The focus of various projects is to document and create awareness amongst the people regarding the culture.
Documentation and Cultural Mapping of Tribal Communities of India The conservation and preservation of cultural heritage through community participation is necessary to showcase and recreate value in the continuing practices, traditions, skills, and customs within these communities. This is done through a nation-wide cultural mapping programme the mapping is carried out through survey with help of a template and various professionals are participating in this documentation. Also training to the student and new comers is given regarding how to and what to document as a cultural heritage.
