Antenna Selection Guideline
Antenna Type Appearance patterns Advantage
(structure)
Split Antenna Less overlap zone between sectors, easy to
control the SHO ratio.
More isolated and less interference
between the sectors split.
Less mount space and weight
33-Degree Good isolation.
Antenna The horizontal directions of the sector can
be adjusted separately
45-Degree Good isolation.
Antenna The horizontal directions of the sector can
be adjusted separately
Split antennas are recommended by default
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Page 10
What is Split Antenna?
1 1
Split antenna is integration of dual-beam
in one physical antenna, which can get
the better horizontal pattern by
2 2
horizontal array added in phase position
Advantages
• Less Overlap: As less overlap, split antenna makes
less Interference in the main lobe of two sectors
• Better Side Lobe Depression: As better isolated, split
antenna makes less Interference from side lobe to
main lobe
Split Antenna 33° Antenna
• One box & Two Sectors: Less space requirement
Area1: Overlap between Area2: side lobe
sectors’ main lobe depression area
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Page 11
Huawei Split Antenna Makes Better Performance
-11 dB -8 dB Huawei Split Antenna uses the advanced
-24 dB array arrangement, which can improve
-30 dB
horizontal side lobe suppression (HSU) and
make less interference
• Overlap Area Attenuation: Huawei Split Antenna is
about 2dB better than Andrew Split Antenna
• Overlap Area beam width: Huawei Split Antenna is
about 3°less than Andrew Split Antenna,
which can decrease the handover ratio
• Interference Area Attenuation: Huawei Split

RF model & BBU Selection Guideline
Basic Principle: Keep the same as the existed sites.
BTS39xx/DBS39xx series NodeB are
recommended
NodeB
BBU
RF
Based on custom requirement and Add BBU based on Cells, CEs, users,
scenario signaling resources and others.
RF module parameter
RRU or RFU, frequency band, Bandwidth ,Power…
Huawei support flexible configuration of RRU and
RFU according to various custom requirement
Huawei split antenna is recommended as good
performance

Multi-sector Tilt Planning
Normally, we keep the dual beam total tilt as
before, E-tilt as higher priority.
For different beam of one antenna the E-tilt
could be adjusted independently.
For different beam of one antenna the M-tilt
should be same.
10°Electric tilt 10°Mechanical tilt
E.g.:

Using E-tilt can control the side lobe
interference more efficiently.
