Abstract
• Tyre pressure and Battery monitoring system is commonly called as TPMS
and BMS.
• Improper tyre pressure is a safety issue that is usually ignored. But the fact
is that a drop in tyre pressure can result in the reduction of mileage, tyre
life, vehicle safety and performance .
• The system will take continuous readings of the tyre pressure ,temperature
and Battery charge condition decide if the pressure is within proper inflation
as well as battery status.
• The system works on wireless sensor network using zigbee and CAN
communication protocol.
Introduction
The main purpose of this presentation is to
• Introduce the topic of Tyre pressure and Battery monitoring system.
• The mechanism of working of TPMS and BMS.
• Objectives and future prospects of TPMS and BMS.
• TPMS and BMS is driver assist system.
Need of TPMS and BMS
1. Most of the people ignore their tyres. But tyres are undoubtedly one of the
most critical safety components of a vehicle.
2. A sudden tyre failure can have serious consequences especially if it occurs
when the vehicle is operating at highway speeds.
3. Tyre also leads to tyre damage and ultimately leads to faster replacement.
4. Automotive battery management is very demanding because it must
interface with other on-board systems, such as the engine management,
climate controls, communications, and safety systems.
5. Battery has to work in real-time in rapidly varying charge-discharge
conditions as the vehicle accelerates and brakes, as well as work in a harsh
and uncontrolled environment .

Components
A. Numicro Microcontroller:
1. The ARM Cortex-M0(NuMicro) processor is the smallest ARM processor
available with exceptionally small silicon area and low power consumption
to achieve 32-bit performance.
2. The NuMicro learning board is shown in fig.
B. Zigbee module:
1. ZigBee is a wireless technology to address the unique needs of low-cost and
low power wireless sensor networks.
2. zigbee transceiver module is shown in fig.
C. Wireless Transmission:
1. The whole monitoring system is made up of several sensor nodes which
installed on the valve of the tyres and a clustering node inside the vehicle.
2. One sensor node is installed in the internal part of each valve cap.

Advantages
• Under-inflated tyres can be dangerous. They can cause strange, erratic drive
patterns at high speeds. Tire pressure monitoring systems keep an eye on tire
inflation continually, for maximum safety in everyday driving situations.
• Proper tire inflation leads to maximum kilometers per liter for a vehicle.
• No more manual tire pressure readings.
• Increased vehicle stability and dynamics.
• Simple and easy resynchronization after tire rotations or replacements.
• Automated capturing of data reduces the human errors.
.
• Noti es users in case of alarms using the advantages of latest technologies.
• Provides the state of readiness of battery at any time. Allows for early detection
of weak cells before they risk the integrity of the battery.
Limitations
•High cost
•Standardisation
•Robustness
•Resetting of parameters
Future Scope
• Next generation Tyre pressure and Battery monitoring systems will feature
online tracking.
• Smart TPMS which will automatically turns on compressor to compensate
for any leaks or puncture.
• Driver will able to adjust tyre pressure according to his [Link]
example;comfort,sporty,all-terrain,offroad.
Conclusion
We can conclude that this system insures us that each an every tyre is
properly inflated to the proper tyre pressure throughout the journey and it
also improves tyre life, reduces tyre wear, increases fuel efficiency and also
increases the overall safety of the vehicle. It also monitors the tyre pressure
and battery condition constantly, provide us the proper inflation and
deflation of the tyre and helps in proving a comfortable ride with better
mileage.
