FR. FILOTEO PELINGON, MSC

• Technology cuts distance, connects people but human beings determine the
content and ways of communication.
• Spirituality is in people, not in the technology.
BASIS OF COMMUNICATION SPIRITUALITY
• The spiritual disposition of the RECEIVER (and RECEIVER) influences how the
MESSAGES are forned and received.
• Culture and experience influences communication expressions (e.g. Asian=silence
and contemplation
COMMUNICATION THEOLOGY
• Trinity as an expression of communication of the Father through the Son and the Father
and Son through the Holy Spirit
• God communication with the Isrealites and Jesus’ incarnation are the standards for
Christian Spirituality and communication
• God uses all ways and means of human communication embedded in the culture of
people
• More important than the techniques are the understanding and experiences of faith and
prayer from which the communication message should grow
BIBLICAL CONSIDERATIONS
• Communication is a matter of being human and being Church (Ephata,
Apriti)
• The scriptures give direction for spiritual challenges and life of the
communicator
• Three elements of Christian communicator: (1)seeing, (2) listening and
contemplation (3) action
CHRIST EXPERIENCE
• The Eucharist is the most perfect and most intimate form of communication
between God and man
• Communication is the giving of self out of love to and for the community
• Christian communicators and communities have a role anf responsibility to
each other (Communio Et Progression and Aetatis Novae)

• Christian communicator is the “voice of the voiceless” and develops visions of the
future in the light of faith
CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATION MODEL
• Based on St. Augustine’s teachings which puts the MESSAGE at the center of
the communication process
• The message –based onntje Wordnof God - is central
• A Christian communicator is the Ambassador of the Incarnate Word
• A Christian Communicator not only communicates but lives the Word, not
depending on technique on his/her own spirituality
• The messenger is also the message
