Normal Distribution Analysis Activities

This document discusses several activities related to the normal probability distribution. In Activity 1, graphs of the normal distribution are examined to determine if they have equal means and standard deviations. Activity 2 involves finding the area under the normal curve for given z-values and finding the value of z. Activity 3 includes converting a normal random value to a standard normal value and vice versa.

LAS Performance Task
ACTIVITY 1 B: Determine whether the graphs of the
normal distribution show equal means and equal standard deviations

1. The illustration has equal means but unequal

standard deviations because the location for their
means is the same but they have different
standard deviation.
ACTIVITY 2 A: Find the area under the normal curve of the
following 𝑧 values

3. We must get the z-values of 1.89, which

is 0.9706, and 0.52, which is 0.6985.
Then, we will subtract the two. The
answer would be 0.2721.
ACTIVITY 2 B: Find the value of z
2. We must get the z-value of 1.47 and subtract
0.6481 from it. Find the difference in the z-score
table then find where the intersection originates.
The answer would be -0.69.
ACTIVITY 3 A1: Convert the normal random value to standard
normal value

1.  We must follow the formula then substitute with

the given. The equation would be (42-38)/5. The

answer would be 0.8.
ACTIVITY 3 B1: Convert the standard normal value to normal
random value
•
1. We must follow the formula then substitute with the
given. The equation would be . The answer would be
10.72.
