Water Level Indicator

This document summarizes a project to create a water level indicator using a common cathode display. It uses sensors to detect different water levels and displays F, H, or L on the display. When the tank is full, F is displayed. When half full, H is displayed. When low, L is displayed. The circuit uses AND gates to determine which segment of the display to activate based on the sensor readings. It has advantages of being power efficient, low cost, automatic, and easy to install and maintain. Potential applications include controlling water levels in tanks and providing high/low level alarms.

Project on Water Level Indicator

Guided by Prof. P.R.Deore

*We have used Common Cathode Display for water level indication.

1] When water level in tank is full , F must be displayed .

Means high signal (1) must be given to a, e, f, g segments of display

2] When water level in tank is half , H must be displayed

Means high signal (1) must be given to b, c, e , f, g segments of display

3] When water level in tank is low ,L must be displayed

Means high signal (1) must be given to d, e, f segments of display

OPERATION
• 1] When tank is full, sensor probes F,H,L are at logic 0 state so logic
control circuit provides high output only for AND gate N1 hence F is
displayed
• 2] When tank is half, sensor probes H,L are at logic 0 state so logic
control circuit provides high output only for AND gate N2 hence H is
displayed
• 3] When tank is low, sensor probes L are at logic 0 state so logic
control circuit provides high output only for AND gate N3 hence L is
displayed
• 4] When tank is overflowing, sensor probes O,F,H,L are at logic 0
state so logic control circuit provides high output only for NOT gate
so buzzer hits to switch off motor.
CONSTRUCTION

1) Assemble the circuit on general purpose PCB and

enclose in a suitable box.

2) Use a non-corrosive material such as Steel Strip for

the five sensors & hang them in the water tank as
shown in circuit diagram.

3) Use Regulated 5V to power the circuit.

ADVANTAGES

1)POWER SAVER
2)MONEY SAVER
3)AUTOMATIC
4)EASY INSTALLATION
5)MINIMAL MAINTAINANCE
APPLICATIONS
1)In water tanks to control water levels.
2)Automatically turn ON/OFF pumps.
3)Oil/fuel tank level control.
4)High and Low Level alarms.
5)Tsunami warning and sea level monitoring.
