What is a sentence?
A sentence may be defined as a group of words that contains a
subject and a predicate and expresses a complete thought.
A subject is a part of a sentence that contains the person or thing performing the action.
The predicate is the part of a sentence that tells us about the subject.
Examples:

(1) The baby is smiling.
(2) My pet is panda.
Separate the Subject and the Predicate in the following sentences:
1. The boy stood on the last bench.
2. The singing of the birds makes me happy.
3. A good boy passed the examination.
4. It is very hot.
5. The cow gives us milk.
6.The earth revolves round the sun.
7.Edison invented the phonograph.
8.Delhi is the capital of India.
9.We cannot make the ocean dry.
10.No man can serve two masters.

Directions: Complete each simple sentence below by adding either a subject or

1. In a complex sentences again we have to use 2 simple sentences
2. we have to combine them through Subordinating conjunction,(Because,if,...)
3. If we are using subordinating conjunction at the starting then we have to use
a Comma in between two sentences .
4. and if we are using subordinating conjunction at the middle of two
sentences then NO COMMA REQUIRED.
5. In two sentences one sentence called - Independent .and second sentence
called dependent,
6. the sentence next to subordinating conjunction called DEPENDENT and other
sentence called INDEPENDENT

Compound-Complex sentence, as the name suggests is a combination of combination
of Compound and Complex sentence. We know that a Compound sentence is formed
by joining two independent clauses and a Complex sentence is formed by joining an
independent clause with a subordinate clause. A Compound-Complex sentence;
therefore must have at least two independent clauses and one or more subordinate
clause
Form the compound-complex sentences by joining the following sentences, using proper connecting words.

Oliver was not looking happy.
Oliver doesn’t want to show his happiness.
3)Peter was sick.
Peter couldn’t attend the meeting.
