Vacuum System

The vacuum system uses three 50% capacity water ring vacuum pumps to remove noncondensing gases and maintain the required vacuum in the main condenser. Each vacuum pump uses a two-stage impeller structure for efficient compression. The system circulates working water between the pumps and a steam water separator to cool the pumps and maintain water levels. The diagram shows the condenser, vacuum pumps, and heat exchangers connected to establish vacuum and allow the turbine to operate or safely shut down.

1System overview.
2System diagram.
1System overview
The vacuum system is the role of the unit to start early
the main condenser space and auxillary piping and
equipment in air to meet the requirements in the start-up
of the steam turbine; the unit normal operation to
remove the accumulated air condenser of the
noncondensing gas, to establish and maintain the
vacuum required in the main condenser; emergency stop
when the vacuum failure of condenser.
1System overview
The main steam condenser steam side vacuum
pumping system is equipped with three sets of 50%
capacity water ring vacuum pumps. The air steam
mixture from the condenser enters the vacuum pump
through the suction pipe and is then discharged into the
steam water separator along with the working water, and
the separated air is discharged to the atmosphere
through the exhaust pipe.
System overview

The vacuum pump uses two-stage impeller structure;

gas compression process is reasonably divided into two-
stage compression; heat exchange becomes more fully,
working temperature rise becomes lower, thus work
efficiency and energy-saving effect are obvious.
1System overview
Before the start of the vacuum pump group, water
injection is carried out, and water is injected into the
steam water separator through an automatic water
replenishing electromagnetic valve or a bypass valve.
The system realizes the water level balance between the
pump and the steam water separator through the
working water pipe. The water level of the steam water
separator is maintained in a normal range through an
automatic water replenishing valve and an overflow
pipe.
1System overview
Meanwhile, the normal water level makes the vacuum
pump run at the optimum working condition, and
ensures the output and efficiency of the vacuum pump.
The working water is closed through the cooler and
the steam water separator, and the cooling water takes
away the heat produced by the pump and keeps the
temperature of the working water normal.
