Introduction & Objective
◦ Objective:
Build an analog system to control water pump based on tank water level
◦ Problem
Manual water level monitoring is inefficient
◦ Goal
Automate the process using analog components
Circuit Components
• 555 Timer IC: Main control in bistable
mode
• 1MΩ Resistors: Set threshold levels
• BC547 Transistor: Switches motor on/off
• 1N4007 Diode: Protects against back
EMF
• Motor Pump: Fills the tank when water
is low
Circuit Diagram
Working Principle
◦ Water Detection: Probes sense water level
◦ 555 Timer: Switches state based on water level
◦ Motor Control: Transistor activates pump when water is low
◦ Protection: Diode prevents back EMF damage
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages Disadvantages
◦ Saves water and time ◦ 1. Noise Sensitivity: False triggers
◦ Prevents damage from back emf possible.
◦ Cost effective and easy to build ◦ 2. Component Wear: Parts degrade.
◦ 3. Power Dependent: Fails without
power.
Applications
◦ Automatic filling and stopping in home tanks
◦ Efficient water use for crops
◦ Water management in industrial tanks
Conclusion
◦ Summary: Efficient, automated water level control
◦ Future: Potential for upgrades (e.g., microcontroller integration)
