Fears, Learning Coping
Face
• Face ( verb ):If you face a problem, or a problem faces you, you have
to deal with it.
• This is one of the many problems faced by working mothers.
• Passengers could face long delays.
• Only by facing your problems can you hope to
• deal with them.
Cope
• Cope ( verb ) :to deal quite successfully with a difficult situation
• How do you cope with stress?
• Cope with a situation / workload/disability / emotion
Panic
• Panic ( noun) :a sudden, strong feeling of worry or fear that makes
you unable to think or behave calmly
• He was in a panic about his exams.
• She had a panic attack in the supermarket.
• Panic ( verb ) : Don't panic, we've got plenty of time.
• You panicked me by telling me I was late.
Phobia
• Phobia ( noun ) :an extreme fear of something
• My mum's got a phobia about birds.
• Treat / suffer from / overcome phobia
Harm
• Harm ( verb ): hurt or damage
• Harm the environment / the economy / your health
• Harm ( noun): protect someone from harm / cause someone harm

Extreme
• Extreme ( adjective ) :the most unusual or most serious possible
• Become / seem / sound extreme
