Introduction
• This project focuses on developing a real-time
system using Raspberry Pi and RTOS to detect
sleep apnea events and provide alerts to the
user or caregiver. It combines biomedical
sensors, embedded systems, and software
integration.
Objectives
• - Detect sleep apnea in real time
• - Provide alerts for apnea events
• - Ensure reliable, continuous monitoring using
Raspberry Pi and RTOS
Methodology
• We use biomedical sensors to capture
physiological signals, process them on
Raspberry Pi using RTOS tasks, and provide
real-time detection and alerting. Signals are
pre-processed, analyzed, and interpreted for
apnea events.
Components Required
• - Raspberry Pi
• - SpO₂ sensor (MAX30100 / MAX30102)
• - Microphone sensor
• - Buzzer / Alert system
• - Display module (OLED/LCD)
• - Power supply
• - Connecting wires
Block Diagram
Circuit Diagram
Working Principle
• 1. Sensors collect physiological signals.
• 2. Raspberry Pi processes the signals in real
time.
• 3. RTOS manages tasks and ensures timely
response.
• 4. Alerts are triggered when apnea events are
detected.
• 5. Data can be displayed or transmitted.
Simulation Output
Results and Observations
• The system successfully detects apnea events
in simulation. It provides real-time alerts and
reliable monitoring. The use of RTOS ensures
smooth task management and timely
processing on the Raspberry Pi platform.
