Elle Fanning has been having somewhat of a hair evolution. She joined team bob back in the spring, chopping off her then-signature long blonde hair to a shoulder-skimming long bob. During the press tour and premiere run for her latest film, A Complete Unknown, Fanning has been experimenting with glamorous, era-appropriate hair moments.

Attending last night’s (December 13) New York premiere, the actor wore her blonde hair in a low chignon, with a deep, dramatic side parting kept slick to her head. It was a feminine, chic look created by her go-to hair stylist Jenda Alcorn.

Styled by longterm collaborator Samantha McMillen, Fanning wore custom Prada with a knock-out yellow sapphire from Cartier. Makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe kept her skin flushed and sheer, with a subtle cat eye and bright red lip.

While the side sweep may be an arguably divisive hair parting, it perfectly frames Fanning’s face, a simple way to create lines and drama.

Appearing earlier this week at the Los Angeles premiere of A Complete Unknown, Fanning made the case for pigtails on the red carpet. It was a look that took cues from the film’s 60s setting, bringing to mind the soft glamor of icons like Brigitte Bardot with loose hair bunches and a heightened crown.

Fanning plays Sylvie Russo, an artist and civil rights activist who is a renamed version of Dylan’s girlfriend from that time, Suze Rotolo. She stars opposite Timothée Chalamet as Dylan. Chalamet made his own splash last night, debuting bleach blond hair underneath a beanie. It was a playful bit of method-dressing, to channel Bob Dylan at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. The beauty choices of this press tour are continually giving.
