Living like a king at his adoring owners’ home, it’s anything but a dog’s life for pet pooch Ollie.

The two-year-old Weimaraner thinks he is a human and downs Sugar Puffs and a cuppa for breakfast.

He takes a shower after a day out at the beach and even sneaks into bed with owners Mel Stokes and Eliot Alexander in the middle of the night.

But the German gun dog’s real love is ice cream – and when he hears the Mr Whippy van arrive playing the Benny Hill theme tune, he dashes outside for his 50p fix.

Mel, 39, said: “He can’t resist ice cream. When he hears the Benny Hill tune he goes mad.

“Once the van kept going and he followed it down the street to get his cornet.

"When it stops, he has no manners, there’s none of that Britishness about him, no queuing politely.

“Children can be in line but he goes straight to the front. He’s such a regular we pay up in advance, so it is like self-service for Ollie , really.

"We may get a wallet for him – then he can keep it around his neck.”

Ollie, who is six-and-a-half stone and almost 4ft tall on his hind legs, lets the pair’s two-year-old son Quinn sit on his back and their teenager Derron regularly walks him.

IT consultant Eliot, 38, said the “loyal and gentle” pooch loves the beach.

He added: “I take him out every day. When we come back, he just walks into the shower.

"He’s not a dog , he’s more like a human.”

The couple, of Forest Hall, Newcastle, joke that Ollie has taken over their house, where they also have two cats.

Teacher Mel said: “He is like our baby, he needs so much attention.

"He is never going to be a winner at Crufts but we love him to bits.”
