In a farewell gig I attended as audience recently, my friend, a guitarist in the band, covered a Canton pop song called <The Best is Yet to Come>, before he permanently leaves this place. The hook lines of the song was like this: “To hug someone, to kiss someone, The best is YET to come”. Impressed by the performance and the lyrics, the story of Pandora’s Box was recalled: although several evil catastrophes were released after Pandora opened the mysterious box, HOPE remained, and it’s indeed the HOPE which makes us move on. With this in mind, I modified one of my harsh noise / drone work in progress, added the bitter-sweet soothing synth sound at the end of track which represented HOPE, and the first track of this album, <Pandora’s Unbox>, was then unboxed.
The best, is YET to come.

<The Daily Routine of Sisyphus>, the second track in the album, inherits the central idea of <Pandora’s Unbox>. <The Daily Routine of Sisyphus> was inspired by Albert Camus‘s philosophical essay “Le Mythe de Sisyphe” (“The Myth of Sisyphus” in English) written in 1942. While life had been condemned and the world is filled with absurdity, Sisyphus embraced the absurdity by turning the torture (of being requested to rolling boulder upon a hill endlessly and repeatedly) and sorrow into joy. The lucidity that was to constitute his torture at the same time crowned his victory. In this track, each step (represented by the punches of harsh noise) seems regularly alike, but subtly they are different, just like the convicted Sisyphus tried to make the endless routine errand different and enjoyable. By doing so, absurdity was defied, values returned. Such torture cannot be overcome without the presence of, again, HOPE.
"all is well," indeed, that "one must imagine Sisyphus happy."
