Карачаево-Черкесская Республика (Карачаево-Черкесия) — республика в составе Российской Федерации. Расположена в предгорьях северной части Большого Кавказа. Республика граничит на западе с Краснодарским краем, на севере со Ставропольским краем, на востоке — с Кабардино-Балкарской республикой, на юге вдоль Главного Кавказского хребта — с Абхазией и Грузией. Включает Карачай, Черкесию, Абазинию и территории, населённые казаками и ногайцами. Административный центр — город Черкесск.
