Deutsch: Das Wappen ist abgeleitet von Siegeln aus den 13.Jahrhundert, welche bis 1274 den thüringischen und danach denn hessischen Löwen zeigten. Es gab zeitweise Unsicherheit bezüglich der Tingierung. Die jetzige folgt dem Entwurf von Otto Hupp.
