Recipe To Be Lonely
02:52
|
|||
Didn’t try to call you
& it turned out
you didn’t try to call me too
I didn’t try to reach you
& it turned out
you didn’t try to reach me too
Ain’t that a recipe
recipe to be lonely
recipe to be lonely & blue
Didn’t try to know ya
& it turned out
You didn’t try to know me too
I didn’t try to talk to you
& it turned out
you didn’t try to talk
to me too true
The telephone used to work two ways
but now it works about eight ways
but it don’t work out no way
No way not this way
I didn’t try to listen to you
& it turned out
You didn’t try to listen to me too
I didn’t try to contact you
& it turned out
You didn’t try to contact me too
Twas a heaping helping of no hellos
Gram or two of I gotta goes
Make a plan but don’t never show
Ain’t that a recipe
recipe to be lonely
recipe to be alone
A recipe to be lonely and blue

After The Pandemic
03:54
|
|||
after the pandemic
people will be jumpin around
rolling from town to town
& we will get together again
after the pandemic
people will be dancing and singing
people will be loving and livin
& we will get together again
you might think these are the worst of days
it’s cause they are & it’s not ok
all the world will cry
for all of those who die
we’ll remember in the living days
after the pandemic
people will be jumping around
rolling from town to town
& we will get together again
after the pandemic
people will be loving & living
people will be jumping and singing
& we will get together again

Immersion Therapy
02:15
|
|||
nobody showed
up to the social anxiety
immersion therapy group meeting
at the bowling alley
i stood there alone checking my phone
i better go home back to the virtual zone
(it’s safe there)
cause nobody showed
up to the social anxiety
immersion therapy group meeting
you’re supposed to meet me
i’m a stupid man
with my smart phone in hand
i’m a stupid man
with my smart phone companion
but i’m off the hook
i don’t need to know any of them
off the hook i don’t need to be forced to make friends
down at the bowling alley
for the social anxiety
immersion therapy group meeting
you were supposed to meet me
the man sprayed the shoes
with a disinfectant
some kid looks confused
quite expectant
cause the air hockey table
just wasn’t blowing no air
he put his quarters in
but the manager didn’t even care
he said “check the sign son, it said ‘no refund’”
down at the bowling alley
for the social anxiety
immersion therapy group meeting
you were supposed to meet me

You Need Your Space
03:53
|
|||
you need your space
i could go sleep on the couch
but the couch it’s too close
i’ll get a motel in town
but the town’s too close
i’ll take a train into the city
but the city’s too close
you don’t wanna run into me
because you need a lot of space
space to get things done
yeah you need a lot of space
and you don’t want a distraction
you need your space
you said ‘you liked to be alone’
i like that too a lot
but it gets so lonesome
you need your space
like southeast Oregon
central Nevada
or Wilbur Washington
yeah you need a lot of space
space to get things done
yeah you need a lot of space
you like the desolation
you need your space
i could go out to the opposite coast
but the coast it’s too close
i’ll find a coast out of the country
another country’s too close
well I could go on out to outer space
really get out of this world
if you don’t wanna see my face
cause you need a lot of space
space to get things done
yeah you need a lot of space
and you don’t want a distraction
you like the desolation
i like that too
you said you liked to be lonesome
you’re the highest
you’re the highest
you’re the highest of the lonesome

Wrinkles Of Your Mind
03:13
|
|||
standing right in front of me somehow you disappear
you disappear within the wrinkles of your mind
i wish i was a chemical to help you come back out
when you get lost within the wrinkles of your mind
well i am your friend will be that until the end
help you cycle down
get your feet back on the ground
is it really necessary to call up a policeman
with the black gloves on they’re going in so blind
resulting in a felony
where is the compassion
for those lost within the wrinkles of their minds?
social services
psychotherapist
mindful first response
when the mind goes a miss
when you get out of the hospital they put you on the street
to go back within the wrinkles of your mind
thirty days of lockdown but the treatments not complete
if you're lost within the wrinkles of your mind
i am your friend.will be that until the end
help you cycle down
get your feet back on the ground

Baldrick Buckle
built a sand sculpture tombstone
before the tide rolled in
Delilah’s drinking a cocktail
with a sad umbrella
as the sun got gone again
threw her daddy’s ashes in the algae bloom
off the Gulf of Mexico
now she’s trying to light a wet cigarette
as the sea turtle sleeps below
i wanna pay off one last respect
before the tide rolled in
and the sand sculpture tombstone
starts caving in
taking a polaroid picture now
with a camera in a zip lock bag
on the spot Hiro shot
the Stones black and blue
after a forty five year lag
little baby dragons invaded the island
they’re not babies no more
twas the perfect habitat for the creatures
to thrive in
Rauchenberg painted the door
wanna pay off one last respect
before the tide rolled in
and the sand sculpture tombstone
starts caving in
the sand sculpture tombstone’s
caving in

Monarch Highway
04:09
|
|||
what if I become a Monarch butterfly
it will be cool with me
cause then i’ll get to travel until i die
only traveling with the sun
never when the moon is in the sky
find a place to rest at night
find the congregation site
pine fir and cedar tree
shelter in the canopy
spend the winter hanging around in the trees
mimicking the dry and dead old leaves
when it gets to fifty five degrees
it’s when i’ll pack my things and leave ‘
but you won’t have anything
because you’re a Monarch butterfly
possessionless’
a place i’d never been before
roadmaps in my dna
somehow i’ll know where to go
down the Monarch highway
this has been a restless year
of trying to get to sleep
finally i got my second dose
i’ve got itchy hands and i got itchy feet
but i’m still alive on the west coast.

I Followed My Heart
04:28
|
|||
i followed my heart
i followed my dream
i followed my heart
but it brought me down the darkest alley
then it bled all over me
i followed my dream
but the dream became a dreadful nightmare
then the dream vanished in the air
i followed my muse
but it brought me to a sad confusion
i followed my muse
but it brought me to a sad conclusion
then the muse told me “you look confused”
the muse told me “i think you lose”
i followed my heart
but it brought me down the darkest alley
then it bled all over me
then it bled all inside me

At Least / Not Alone
03:00
|
|||
almost everyone i know has got a broken heart
falling apart
least you’re not alone
almost everyone i know is crumbling from within
lost in their own skin
least i’m not alone
at least you’re not alone
at least we’re not alone
when you told me how you are
how you’re sleeping alone
how you’re eating alone
least you’re not alone
many people that I know
are unhappy with their life
it keeps them up at night
at least i’m not alone
at least you’re not alone
at least we’re not alone
lotsa people in this bar are crying in their drink
they don’t know what to think
at least I’m not alone
many people that i know play music by themself
in empty rooms by themself
at least I’m not alone
at least not alone

Nacre Pericardium
04:42
|
|||
i got so sick from grieving
cried my eyes out on the road
now i’m driving blind out to nowhere left to go
i went to Santa Fe
i picked up your wolverine
you’re still alive in the sculpture
i see your life
i see your dream
a couple thousand miles
shed my tears out on the road
went to Kansas City and I brought your sculpture home
the wooden crates like a casket
& your sculpture’s safe inside
i’m the pallbearer making that final ride
secure the space in the middle
of coming & going before you left
nacre is mother of pearl
pericardium holds the heart in the chest
another thousand miles
shed my tears out on the road
went to Kansas City & i brought your sculpture home
now i look at your pictures
all those smiling memories
i cry in the car
feel the weight of the tragedy
i went to Santa Fe
i picked up your wolverine
you’re still alive in the clay
i see your life i see your dream
a couple thousand miles
shed my tears out on the road
i went to Kansas City & i brought your sculpture home
i went to Kansas City & I brought my baby home
