Telecom major Airtel, Idea and Vodafone are also planning to come up with its own bundled 4G devices. According to reports, Airtel is planning to launch 4G smartphone priced at Rs 2,500 before Diwali.
The launch of Jio services since last September has led to a wide-range changes in the telecom market and the today's 'cheapest 4G feature phone' by Jio may continue to bring further disruption in the telecom market.
Over the past year, telecom tariff has fallen 25-32 per cent on average and 60-70 per cent for heavy data users, after Reliance Jio Infocomm entered the market with a free launch offer and ultra-cheap tariffs after the initial months. Analysts and industry insiders feel the tariff may further fall by 25-30 per cent over the next year.
To counter Jio onslaught, the big three of Indian telecom — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular — has also heavily cut prices to prevent migration, which has resulted into an intense price war.
But booking the phone might take some time because the site was not opening, most probably due to heavy traffic.
