Qualification for the 1994 African Cup of Nations took place in 8 groups. 10 teams would progress to the tournament. Côte d'Ivoire and Tunisia qualified automatically as defending champions and hosts respectively. Qualification began on 14 June 1992 and ended on 24 October 1993.
Preliminary round
Lesotho won 4–0 on aggregate.
Guinea-Bissau won 4–1 on aggregate.

Notes
The 2021 and 2023 tournaments were actually held in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
There were no 1957 and 1959 qualifications as places were given by invitation only.
