Etymology

According to Schuessler (2007), from Kam-Tai; compare Proto-Kam-Sui *ɓjaːk⁷ (woman, girl) & Proto-Tai *ɓɯːkᴰ (girl), (p. 164). Schuessler (2007) also considers that this may be a possible allofam or re-etymologization of (female slave), (p.158).
