Today we are kicking off the GenderSAFE #CoP, a Community of Practice gathering stakeholders involved in developing and improving #InstitutionalPolicies on #GenderBasedViolence in #academia and #research! How exciting to be working alongside with many experts and highly motivated stakeholders - we look forward to paving the way for a real change in academia and research! Our five thematic discussion groups ("circles") provide a space to share knowledge, learn from others' experiences and discuss how to overcome specific barriers. Participants will also be discussing, tailoring and testing a baseline policy framework for addressing gender-based violence, exchanging across a variety of organisational settings. GenderSAFE has recently launched a pledge for individuals and institutions to adopt a #ZeroTolerance approach to gender-based violence. According to the UniSAFE survey, #GenderBasedViolence affects over 60% of staff and students across European higher education and research institutions. Many cases go unreported, and policies are often deemed ineffective. The term ‘professional boundaries’ denotes appropriate standards of behaviour by working professionals. However, a shared understanding of appropriate boundaries is often lacking in higher education.
