Passing an API key or password via an argument is not safe as all users on the system can see it in the process list.
Passing this type of secrets via an environment variable (or config file) is safer. It would be something like:
$ cat apikey UPTIMEROBOT_API_KEY=foobar $ source apikey $ uptimerobot ...
