eROSITA

The German eROSITA Consortium (eROSITA-DE) makes public observations from the following two data releases:
  1. the first six months of the SRG/eROSITA all-sky survey (eRASS1) data whose proprietary rights lie with the German eROSITA consortium and the observations. This public data release is called eROSITA-DE Data Release 1 (DR1). The MPE DR1 site contains up-to-date and detailed information.
  2. the (German-led) observations obtained during the Calibration and Performance Verification (Cal-PV) program. This public data release is called eROSITA-DE Early Data Release (EDR). The MPE EDR site contains up-to-date and detailed information.
The HEASARC links below refer to both data releases.

Link Description
Data and Catalog Access: Access the calibrated event files and catalogs via our Archive.
Analysis: Information about analysis software, tools, and scripts are available via the eROSITA Science Analysis Software System (eSASS).
Calibration: eSASS also comes with a Calibration Database (CALDB), which is used by the distinct eSASS tasks.
Acknowledgments EDR DR1 If you use eROSITA-DE data and/or the eSASS software in your publication, please acknowledge eROSITA-DE using the instructions provided here.

Need Help?

The eROSITA-DE portal also provides specific access relevant for both data releases, including technical information about eROSITA. If you have questions, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sections under the separate DR1 and EDR sites.

For additional questions, please visit the Help Forum, where any member of the eROSITA-DE community or a future external user can answer your question.

31 Jan 2024 - First eROSITA sky-survey data release: The German eROSITA consortium released the data for its share of the first all-sky survey by the eROSITA telescope on the Spectrum-RG (SRG) satellite. With about 900,000 distinct sources, the first eROSITA All-Sky Survey (eRASS1) has yielded the largest X-ray catalogue ever published. Along with the data, the consortium released a series of scientific papers. See the press release for more information.

22 Oct 2019 - eROSITA First Light: On 22 October 2019, the beautiful first X-ray images of the eROSITA telescope were presented to the public at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching. After an extended commissioning phase, since October 13 all seven X-ray telescope modules with their custom-designed CCD cameras have been observing the sky simultaneously. The first combined X-ray images of our neighbouring galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud, and a pair of interacting clusters of galaxies at a distance of about 800 Million lightyears, show remarkable details and demonstrate the promise of the ambitious science programme planned with the space-borne telescope.

14 Jul 2019 - The Launch of SRG: At 14:31 on 13 July 2019, the Spektrum-Roentgen-Gamma (SRG) space mission successfully lifted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome, carrying aloft the eROSITA and ART-XC telescopes.
