Ծծումբը

Սև վառոդ, հայտնի է նաև ծխացող վառոդ անվանումով՝ ի տարբերություն ներկայումս լայնորեն գործածվող անծուխ վառոդի. ամենավաղ հայտնի քիմիական պայթուցիկ նյութն է։ Բաղկացած է ծծումբի (S), փայտածուխի և կալիումի նիտրատի /KNO/ կամ սելիտրայի խառնուրդից։ Ծծումբն ու փայտածուխը ծառայում են որպես վառելանյութ, իսկ կալիումի նիտրատը՝ օքսիդացնող նյութ, որն ապահովում է այրման համար անհրաժեշտ թթվածնի համապատասխան քանակության առկայությունը։ Ժամանակին լայնորեն գործածվել է հրազենի, հրետանու, հրթիռների, հրավառության նյութերի մեջ, հանքագործության, ճանապարհաշինության բնագավառներում։

Հայտնաբերվել է իններորդ դարում, Չինաստանում և 13-րդ դարի վերջերից լայնորեն տարածվել եվրասիական երկրներում։ Սկզբնապես ստեղծված լինելով բժշկական նպատակներով գործածվելու համար՝ մոտավորապես 1000 թվականին առաջին անգամ կիրառվել է որպես զինամիջոց։

Տասնիններորդ դարի երկրորդ կեսից սկսած՝ սև վառոդի գործածության ծավալներն ու բնագավառները նվազել են՝ կապված ավելի արդյունավետ պայթուցիկ նյութերի՝ դինամիտի (ուժանակի) և ANFO-ի /ammonium nitrate/fuel oil/ հայտնաբերման հետ։ Այսօր սև վառոդը կիրառվում է որսորդության, հրազենի գործածության վարժանքների, պատմական ճակատամարտերի խաղ-բեմադրությունների ժամանակ՝ որպես մարտական լիցքից զուրկ, ուսումնական փամփուշտների նյութ։

Ռազմական նպատակով սև վառոդի գործածությունը՝ անծուխ վառոդի հետ համեմատած, անցանկալի է՝ հաշվի առնելով դրան հատուկ հետևյալ թերությունները. կրակելիս մեծ քանակությամբ ծուխ է արտադրվում, որը մատնում է հրաձիգի կամ հրանոթի տեղը, կրակողին խանգարում է նշանառության , ինչպես նաև՝ արձակած կրակոցի արդյունքները, հետևանքները պարզելու ժամանակ։
