AI is reshaping jobs and teaching methods. Are our universities keeping pace? Dr. S S Mantha, Chancellor of Ramdeobaba University (RBU) Nagpur, shed light on the transformative impact of AI on employment and education at the 31st Elets World Education Summit in Mumbai. Dr. Mantha explained how AI has disrupted the traditional job pyramid: "The base of the employment pyramid, entry-level jobs, has shrunk due to automation and intelligent agents. Today, even entry-level roles demand advanced skills, and universities must adapt to this reality." Dr. Mantha also touched upon how AI is redefining pedagogies and drew parallels with India’s ancient learning methodologies: "Our ancient systems used diverse approaches like Shravanavidhi (listening), Tarkavidhi (logic), and Adhyaropapavadavidhi (scenario-based learning). Today, universities predominantly rely on passive methods, leaving out these rich, interactive strategies. AI can help revive and modernise these techniques, including gaming for immersive learning." In a world where both employment and education are being redefined by AI, Dr. Mantha urged institutions to blend traditional wisdom with modern technology to prepare students for the future. I'm deeply humbled to receive this award as a Young Leader in Edtech Innovation. I'm grateful to the Elets World Education Summit and Elets Technomedia for this recognition. However this post is not just about my gratitude but also to draw the attention towards something very important that I would like to share with my fellow educationists, leaders and mentors. As I reflect on this honor, I am encouraged to pursue my vision for children and young adults, where education plays a role beyond the usual norm of being just a tool or a degree to have a high paying career. As Jesus says in Matthew 5:13, "You are the salt of the earth." This verse drives me to radically shift the paradigms of the Indian education system, empowering students to become more empathetic, understand the importance of serving society, and cultivate a sense of purpose that transcends personal career and academic goals. Unfortunately, generations have been wrongly motivated by superficial goals like secured government jobs, big corporate salaries, large VC investments or the number of social media followers. These goals push students to ignore the importance of having a purpose larger than their egos, leading to burnout, unhealthy competition, and a lack of sense of community. This award also reminded me of my own career path, which has been a winding road with unexpected twists and turns. From being a classroom teacher to leading a global business category in one of the top Edtech companies in the world, my life goals were becoming more and more clear with every mountain and valley that I was crossing. And now I've finally found my calling: to integrate the teachings of Jesus, which led to a drastic personal testimony and a perspective shift from pursuing deals and titles to truly creating a lasting impact. As Matthew 5:13 teaches us, salt may be required in small amounts, but it enhances flavors and makes all the difference. I'm committed to being that salt, making a positive impact in the education sector. P.S. Thank you again to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I'm honored to be part of this community! If you're congratulating me in the comments, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the vision I've shared. Let's connect and discuss! #Gratitude #Awards #Education #Leadership #ChristianEducation #effectivealtruismineducation #EA #christiansforimpact
