Inventum (-i, n.) est aliquid novi ab homine factum vel apertum, quod nemo antea fecerat aut noverat. Inventor est qui inventum parit. Nonnulla inventa, e.g. globulus electricus, vitam hominum faciliorem faciunt. Alia inventa, praesertim ea generis chindogu, sunt haud utilia.
