boundbyoaths Refreshingly nostalgic, yet original. Not to mention the bands story is amazing👏🏻

jorgelucero I am overwhelmed by this album. I received my vinyl copy today, but have been looping the songs on the app since I found out it existed. I was a front-row teenager, in that green and white cornerstone tent, where Luxury changed everything for those of us in attendance. If good art has an inarticulateable force to it, what Luxury makes and puts into the world is good art. You feel it! Im not just recommending this album to my friends, I’m buying copies of the vinyl for them. My album of the year.

jason hendry I have been a listener of Luxury since ‘Amazing and Thank You’ Lee’s thoughtful lyrics the instrumentation and raw emotion have always drawn me to this band. So far on this album I enjoy One of Those Things (Or) The Temple. Great job! Favorite track: One Of Those Things / The Temple.
bultitude

bultitude Luxury has always sounded like the intersection of The Smiths and a punk titan like Fugazi, but this release leans much more toward the Smiths side of that equation. Still a set of beautiful, literate, melodic, spiritually rich, perfectly constructed rock songs, even without the punk fury of earlier records. They still swerve from slow tempo whispers to driving, soaring catharses. Over the decades, this band has only grown its songwriting prowess and spiritual depth. A solid addition.

valuepac Exceptional record cannot speak enough about how good this record is. I hope the band plays a few live shows in the Midwest.

Our friend takes drugs every day and she contemplates life when she plays so hard upon the piano keys But the melody just will not stay, it moves around the pillars and fades away, like light just at the end of day come in, find a place to lay your head take a moment no one’s going anywhere yes, I swear yes, I swear yes, I swear Go on, read the lines out loud, your voice will have to do it without the power the guards keep changing at every hour Go on, sing the lines again, your voice a little louder at the sound of them you’re here but how long has it been? come in, find a place to lay your head take a moment no one’s going anywhere yes, I swear yes, I swear yes, I swear We would have healed Babylon but she would not be healed we would have healed anyone tell me how you feel? “I’m a wheel within a wheel.” come in, find a place to lay your head take a moment no one’s going anywhere yes, I swear yes, I swear yes, I swear

Is there something wrong with your body? The Temple, not what it was? you could ask around you could ask around ask anybody See what they’ve learned It’s one of those things yes, one of those things just one of those things you know the presentation went badly no one seemed to know can your body be a lie? or is it something more holy like we were told It’s one of those things yes, one of those things just one of those things you know the kids are on their own the kids are on their own the kids are on their own the kids are on their own It’s one of those things Is there something wrong with your body? Maybe you’ve never been told sometimes they want to help but their help is the one thing that kills you the most It’s one of those things yes, one of those things just one of those things It’s one of those things yes, one of those things just one of those

The last speech that I heard Didn’t mean a thing, Not a thing to me The one who hung the earth upon the waters What should I believe? Should I believe? The last word that was said Heavy and dead a fur on a king The one who hung the curtain of the cosmos What is left to dream? Is there a dream? Oh, the headline says it all “The lowest circle isn’t all that far” In any story, it’s the hardest part Oh, the ticker tape speaks to me “In this world there is misery” With this world, let me make my peace The last song that was played A serenade A pretty little thing The one who tore the curtain top to bottom Can you hear the strings? Can you hear the strings? The last breath that I have It has to last For all of eternity The one who closed the gates upon the garden Open the gates for me! Open the gates for me! Oh, the headline says it all “The lowest circle isn’t all that far” In any story, it’s the hardest part Oh, the ticker tape speaks to me “In this world there is misery” With this world, let me make my peace

The albatross is just what I had in mind a letter or number or color will do just fine when I was young, I never did think twice when I was young, I never did think twice the necklace will teach you what this world is like the necklace will keep us all in line The albatross flew around three times capturing our hearts and our minds you made a gesture in plain sight you made a gesture, started a fight the necklace will teach you what this world is like the necklace will keep us all in line The albatross looks asleep but not alive write my number down while there’s still time before we go to bed, we say goodnight waking up we say good luck and then goodbye the necklace will teach you what this world is like the necklace will keep us all in line the necklace will teach you what this world is like the necklace will keep us all in line

It’s funny how you were romantic so idyllic, so close to tears now it’s all disappointment disappointment everywhere’s crowds and amusement all amusement, so unprepared in a minute just a minute it’s all a young frontier You knew I’d write a song about it a song about it with all my friends you had a chance but then you blew it then you blew it when this began your ideals, they meant nothing they meant nothing when you gave in Saramago saw it coming saw it coming in Blindness What do you want to go back for? What did you leave back there? Why open up closed doors? Now we can get somewhere It’s sad you cannot see it you cannot see it, you didn’t know? all your life has been rehearsal dress rehearsal for the show crowds and amusement all amusement, for so and so in a minute just a minute it just goes to show What do you want to go back for? What did you leave back there? Why open up closed doors? Now we can get somewhere

There’s a moment For the right words, the best thing to say You have to try it. The hour is late, what is true will remain Patience is sacred Let’s not ruin it by haste! Every moment lasts forever Unless the tape is erased Unless the tape is erased The tape is erased Come back, come back with me “Eat your heart out” That’s the spirit! You’re going to say what you think All the sorrows of unbelievers All the spilling of ink A little harder Oh, the impression you’ll make! All the world is too much with us And the curtain is raised And the curtain is raised The curtain is razed Come back, come back with me There’s a moment For the right words, the best thing to say You have to try it. The hour is late, what is true will remain

Woke up in the wilderness covered my face with gold the color of tenderness the color of health, I am told packed up my bewilderment tied a knot I know opened up the furnaces built for when the trumpet blows Come on! Come on! My Lord! Come on! Come on! My Lord! there used to be a road right here there used to be a gate that closed arm yourself with memories, dear carve your name into the post the birds are high up in the air the sound down in the valley grows compass isn’t very clear can’t we take it nice and slow? Come on! Come on! My Lord! Come on! Come on! My Lord! the Palisades are fine this time of year we can spend the night out here around the fountains like before maybe everything will be alright maybe I can just touch your side when the wolves are at the door (they’re at the door!) Come on! Come on! My Lord! Come on! Come on! My Lord! Come on! Come on! My Lord! Come on! Come on! My Lord! Woke up in the wilderness covered my face with gold the color of tenderness the color of health, I hope

Maybe it’s best if you just take it back Maybe we don’t get another dance Maybe you thought we could, but we just can’t Not every story has a second act Not every story has a second act So maybe it’s best if you just take it back Maybe that’s the end of our romance Maybe we don’t get the ring of brass Not every story has a second act Not every story has a second act Not every story has a second act
