Every year around this time
When the trees all lose their leaves
And department stores fill up with lines
I’m filled up with this need
For falling snow
My childhood home
All the hugs and the kisses
I don’t know
Where the time goes
But I sure miss those days at Christmas
Long ago when I was eight
I can still remember
My parents fought all holiday
That one cold December
The falling snow
My childhood home
All of the broken dishes
Despite these ghosts
Left unatoned
I still miss those days at Christmas
Vince Guaraldi plays in the car
My Dad rolled the windows down
Though it’s snowing hard
We picked up a tree at our local tree lot
Wait til Mom sees what we got
We passed the lake on our way home from town
Rescued a labrador who almost drowned
The ice wasn’t solid in this one little spot
Wait til Mom sees what we got
Ring the bells of Christmas
Guide us all back home
It’s been forever since I’ve been in this place
It’s so good to see your face
Every year around this time
When the trees all lose their leaves
And department stores fill up with lines
I’m filled up with this need
For falling snow
My childhood home
All the hugs and the kisses
I don’t know
Where the time goes
But I sure miss those days at Christmas

My Christmas Plea
03:18
|
|

When will we learn how to live here in peace?
And when will we learn from our own history?
Oh that Christmas would change our hearts
But we’re stuck in place just like snow globes and stars
Prisoners of our greed
When will we see with the eyes of a child
And look out our windows at snowstorms and smile?
Someday Christmas will open our eyes
And we’ll see life clearly for the very first time
This is my Christmas plea
And the angels sing hallelu
Hallelu
Hallelujah
Merry Christmas
So give up your coat to one on the street
And give back to those who have never been free
I hope this Christmas we open our hearts
And no more we’ll be trapped in snow globes and stars
This is my Christmas plea

Burrowed

Sky steel grey
Windows cold as ice
We’ve burrowed away
Underground like mice
And until next spring that’s where we plan to stay
Sometimes it seems
Like only yesterday
We were kids with dreams
Big enough to break
And I still miss you every single Christmas Day
As seasons pass
We try to hold on
But soon lose our grasp
We are fleeting as the snow under the sun
So make the memories last
Patches of snow
Smell of old pitch pine
We U-Hauled, car in tow
I counted the bridges crying
Everything I loved we left in ‘89
Skyscrapers pass
Tunnels and tolls
Turnpike at last
We are fleeting as the snow under the sun
So make the memories last
As seasons pass
We try to hold on
But soon lose our grasp
We are fleeting as the snow under the sun
So make the memories last

White Christmas
01:58

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
"May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white"
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
"May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white"
