When creating Portraits, the interdisciplinary artist was in search of sincerity and authenticity.
Olivia plunges her audience into vulnerable introspection and spaces of pop, indie, folk and jazz. Her sound is original and mixed to synthesize her various influences.
Six songs display the artist’s professional jazz training. Acquired ears may notice the superimposition of drum parts: Olivier Guertin and Mark Nelson converse with each other in several songs such as Waiting, Seek and Wholehearted.
On Retrouvée, Arthur Bourdon drums allow listeners to discover a more pop sound. With Je laisse ici, Olivia paints a contemplative portrait, where notes of cello and double bass stretch unto a sandy beach, reminiscent of her travels.
Through Portraits, produced by Reno McCarthy and mixed by Patrice Pruneau, Olivia Khoury offers fresh air with a piece of scenic music that warms the soul.
Thank you to the Canada arts Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for their remarkable support.
