So long as the page on this wiki does not exist (i.e. is "a red link"), this template temporarily displays links to one or more corresponding non-English Wikipedia articles. The red link is explicitly shown, followed by the non-English link(s). Hovering over the language code of a non-English link will display the name of the article on the non-English Wikipedia. Once the English article is created, the non-English link(s) will not be shown.

Usage

There are several ways of using this template. It can produce links to one or more specific languages or to the Wikidata table of languages. There can also be a link to Magnus Manske's Reasonator Wikidata item viewer.

The shortcuts {{ill}} and {{illm}} may be used.

Link to one foreign language

Articles with the same title

To link to a foreign language article with the same title as the English Wikipedia, the parameters are:

• {{ill|Sigmund Jakobsen|no}} gives Sigmund Jakobsen

Articles with different titles

To link to a foreign language article with a different title, the parameters are:

{{ill|English article title|language code|Title in foreign language}}

• {{ill|Hooglede town hall|nl|Gemeentehuis van Hooglede}} gives Hooglede town hall

Link to multiple languages

To link to multiple languages, the parameters are:

{{ill|English article title|language 1 code|Title in language 1|language 2 code|Title in language 2|...}}

There are up to five languages supported by the template.

Articles with the same title

If the foreign language articles have the same title as the English language page, the titles of the page are not necessary.

• {{illm|casa|es|it|ro|de|haus}} gives casa

Note that ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଫେବୃଆରୀ 2016 if there is a redirect for the term in English Wikipedia, both the redirected (blue) link and interlanguage link(s) are displayed. This is why "casa" appears as a bluelink in the example above.

Articles with different titles

Link to the Wikidata table of languages

To link to the Wikidata table of languages in which the article is available, the parameters are:

All links to other Wikipedias are ignored if |WD= is present. Thus since Jokery does not exist

Link to Reasonator

To link to Reasonator, add any value for the parameter |reasonator=. If a Wikidata item is linked, then the Reasonator link goes to the page for that item; if not, then a search is performed on Reasonator for that item.

Modifying the display

Forcing links

If interlanguage/Wikidata/Reasonator links are to be displayed even if the English Wikipedia article exists, add any of the values 1, y, yes or force for the parameter |display=.

Piped links

A "piped link" in the English Wikipedia (as in [[Charles Darwin (botanist)|Charles Darwin]]) can be created by using |lt= for the visible link text. Thus since Charles Darwin (botanist) does not exist

Note Do not use {{!}} to create piped links: {{illm|Maze (band){{!}}Maze|...}} is not equivalent to {{illm|Maze (band)|lt=Maze|...}}. The former will not cause the foreign language links to disappear when the English article exists.

Remove bold formatting from links

Usually the display of the Interlanguage or Wikidata or the Reasonator (the "appended link") are in normal font, but if the appended link is for example in a title line of table, then along with the rest of the line the appended link will be bold. In such circumstances the appended link can be set to display unbolded by adding any value for the parameter |nobold=.

Vertical alignment

The vertical alignment of the interlanguage/Wikidata/Reasonator links can be altered by adding:

• vertical-align=sup to place the links in superscript
• vertical-align=sub to place the links in subscript

• {{illm|TC Matic (band)|af||nl||fr||es|}} gives TC Matic (band) – although shown in blue the interwiki links won't work because they default to the title "TC Matic (band)" which is wrong
• {{illm|TC Matic (band)|lt=TC Matic|af|TC Matic|nl|TC Matic|fr|TC Matic|es|TC Matic}} gives TC Matic – the text "TC Matic" now redlinks to "TC Matic (band)"
• {{illm|TC Matic|lt=TC Matic (band)|af|TC Matic|nl|TC Matic|fr|TC Matic|es|TC Matic}} gives TC Matic (band) – the text "TC Matic (band)" now links to "TC Matic" which exists
