Sound In Silence is happy to announce the return of Panoptique Eelectrical, presenting his new album For Years.

For over twenty years Jason Sweeney, based on Kaurna Country in South Australia, has been composing and recording either solo, in various electronic bands (Other People’s Children, Pretty Boy Crossover) and under the composer alias of Panoptique Electrical. He has also been directing and creating interactive works for the internet, making experimental films, curating projects for galleries and theatre spaces and has collaborated with and composed for some of Australia’s leading performing arts companies, artists and organisations.

This is his fifth album on the label after the highly acclaimed Disappearing Music For Face in 2016, Quiet Ecology in 2017, Five Pianos in 2020 and Decades (2001-2021) in 2021.

For Years is comprised of ten new compositions of atmospheric textures and calming soundscapes, with a total duration of 40 minutes. Warm pads, melancholic drones and minimal piano, all gracefully blending into another wonderful ambient album by Panoptique Electrical, mastered by George Mastrokostas (Absent Without Leave).
For Years was made as part of a larger music project called Ageism that traverses ideas of what it means to be older and queer. The compositions on this album observe the ageing queer body as a site of beauty, of wisdom, of false promises and a fragile future. Something to look forward to, something to leave behind.
