Stephen Miller snoozed through a White House meeting on school safety

The Trump administration has defied many norms of the White House, but one core truth remains the same: Running the executive branch is a taxing job.

For Stephen Miller, the Trump adviser largely credited for the administration’s harshest anti-immigration measures, the job sometimes involves a daytime nap. Photos from the European Pressphoto Agency show Miller, 32, falling asleep during a Monday meeting on school safety in the wake of the Parkland shooting with Trump, administration officials, and governors. Increasing mental health services, law enforcement presence in schools, and gun control were on the agenda.

First looking tired and rubbing his eyes, Miller eventually rested his head and appeared to fall asleep. His head hung suspended just above his folded arms, which rested on the back of his chair.

Perhaps Miller was taking a cue from Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, a Wall Street investor and Trump confidant, whom Axios reported has fallen asleep in multiple meetings.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
