gothictonic I love this one! The message means a lot to me since I lost my uncle a few years back and it embodies exactly how I felt and still feel at times. Not to mention the bass in the beginning gives me the good kind of chills, hell yeah! Favorite track: Everything (feat. Wolfie).

gothdaze album sounds great lovin it big fan of this band from back in the old days i use to talk to troy all the time when they use to play the pyramid in NYC and also the bank brings back great memories of the early goth scene NYC miss those days...hopefully i will see you at qxts NJ..

After forming in the mid'80s, The Wake earned numerous critical accolades as part of the so called "second wave" of goth in the early '90s. Through their releases, appearances on a myriad of compilations, and extensive touring through out the '90s, The Wake secured a place in goth and roll history.

Now, almost 25 years since their last full length album, The Wake release another readymade goth classic - Perfumes and Fripperies.

"Here - dark, uneasy truths are revealed, fate and resolution come to terms, whispering dreams and memories dance in the moon light... there will be no sleep tonight."

Recorded over many months in different locations and various circumstances in the band’s native Ohio, the album comes together to speak with one voice. Enhanced no doubt, by the mix provided by Matt Hagberg at VMS in Columbus, OH and mastering by Emily Lazar at The Lodge in NYC.

I like the subtle way in which the tracks connect to the album cover, making this resting maiden the center point — calm in the midst of storm. (Just my interpretation maybe but the cover gives extra depth to the music... a softer undertone). The image reminds me of ‘Annunciation’ by Dante G. Rossetti used in ‘Adrenaline’ music video. ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ puts me at peace with big disappointments — a bittersweet musical potion. nicabreeze
