When Sanjay Dutt told Aishwarya Rai that the industry will make her beauty disappear: 'It's competitive, it's not easy'
Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have worked together in 'Shabd' and 'Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin'. But did you know that Sanjay and Aishwarya first met when they did a photo shoot together for a magazine, much before she began her career in Bollywood. While Dutt was already an established actor by then, Aishwarya had just started modelling after winning Miss World. As soon as Dutt spotted her at the shoot, he recalled seeing her in a soft drink commercial and he said, "Who’s that beautiful woman?"
When he first met her, he advised her to stick to her modelling career and warned her that the industry would make her beauty disappear as it's not an easy place to be. In an interview with Cineblitz many years ago, Dutt had revealed his reaction when he saw her. "When you come into this glamour industry, it starts changing you, maturing you, that innocence is lost. That beautiful side she has right now on her face will disappear. Because she has to handle the film world right, and that is not easy to do," he said.
He spoke about how the industry can be tough and added, “It’s competitive. It’s like, ‘Man, I have to look better than that, I’ve gotta be there.’ You climb two steps and 500 people will pull you down five steps. And you become hard, losing those beautiful qualities. There are so many things you’ve got to handle that I suppose it does harden you."
However, Dutt felt that it's actually the success and failure aspect of the industry which is quite tough and might harm Aishwarya. He confessed, "It’s too professional, there are no feelings existing in this industry. You’ve gotta be prepared that if you’re not doing well, nobody’s there for you. And if you are, you’ll have everyone around you. When they’re all there, it’s handled differently. But when you’re alone, it’s sad to accept the fact that they don’t want you anymore."
Aishwarya has been married to Abhishek Bachchan for 17 years now and the latter shares a very close bonding with Dutt.
