The Jolly Hog | B Corp

Last Friday was our final and biggest Jolly Good Deeds day of the year and it was an absolute corker! Throughout the year we have been working with local schools to deliver food boxes to selected families around the city of Bristol. Once a month, the team come together bright and early to hand pack boxes of our product. We then split up and deliver these out around the city. ⁠On Friday alone we hand packed and delivered 260 food boxes around Bristol. This is part of our initiative to tackle food insecurity in Bristol. Alongside this, we set up Miss Piggy (our food truck) for the 5th consecutive year at Southmead Hospital for a festive feed for the staff. We were serving up our Festive Hog Roast Buns with Sausage meat stuffing and Apple Sauce. From our first bun at 6am and 1500 buns later at 12pm, we had a queue the whole time. We couldn’t be more grateful for all of the work that North Bristol NHS Trust staff put in throughout the year, not only this but sticking out the cold for one of our Hog Roast Buns! In total 46 staff, friends and family of The Jolly Hog came together to help feed our city. A huge shoutout and massive thank you to everyone that helped, it would not be possible without you! We've been battling it out all year, but this time it was a collaborative effort 🎄 Team lunch usually involves one pair cooking with the rest of the team judging. This week, we each brought in an individual component of a Christmas dinner, and it turned into a festive FEAST! Squeezing into our kitchen, from braised red cabbage to Pigs in Blankets (cop out Stuart Andrews), we had it covered. Including a much anticipated return of TiramiHugh! The Notorious P.I.B I was walking down the stairs The Jolly Hog | B Corp HQ last week and I was stopped by some of our creative cool kids Peter Tizard and Esme Lewis. They ambushed me into this ridiculous bit of content to celebrate our recent launch of our Pigs in Blankets rolls on all European British Airways flights. (Which btw is an incredibly proud moment for us). Whilst I was being forced to munch this roll, it got us thinking about the importance of PIBs and the emotion attached to them. Our Christmas ATL Campaign is live at the moment and we’re asking who cares about the turkey? (When you’ve got PIBs). Google tells me over 128 million pigs in blankets are eaten on Christmas Day and as a business we shift our multi award winning PIBs all year round as they aren’t just for Christmas (marketing told me to say that). The love is definitely there. We even did a bloody PIBs cookbook. So, I genuinely want to know: - Outside of PIBs, what is your favourite part of your plate for Christmas Dinner? - How many PIBs are you eating during December?
