One of the best (and least crowded) ways to explore the underwater wonders of Grand Cayman is on a private boat charter like the Cayman Snorkel Co., which will take you to swim with rays on the Stingray City Sandbar or swim to the beach at Starfish Point, stopping along the way for a casual bite to eat along the North Sound.

Grenada
Carriacou, north of the main island of Grenada, is known as the ‘Land of Reefs’ and retains a little more than a Gilligan’s Island feel. Best bet for snorkeling is to head to Paradise Beach from the town of Hillsborough and then hop a water taxi that’ll deposit you on the perfectly named Sandy Island from where to launch your discoveries.

Turks and Caicos
The Turks and Caicos Barrier Reef is the third largest in the world and protects Providenciales Island’s Grace Bay Beach from large waves. Bight Reef, aka Coral Gardens, is an always popular spot, but we head for Smith’s Reef in Turtle Cove for the chance to spot turtles, rays, and barracudas.
