Hey, this is Rob Lowe and this is my son, John Owen Lowe.

Hi.

And we're gonna walk you through what we love about LA.

We're gonna talk about some food, some places to go.

And some local slang.

[upbeat music]

So when you're in LA, there are some foods

that you absolutely have to try.

Pink's hot dogs smack.

Smack.

But they're also, this is not a trade secret.

Tourists might not know it. Yeah.

I love things that stand the test of time.

And Pink's is one of them.

They just have it down to a science.

It doesn't need improving.

Yeah.

Simple and good, just works.

When men were wearing hats they were eating Pink's hotdog.

People don't wear hats anymore?

Not the way they should.

For me it's chili, onion, mustard.

I'm a simple man.

Ketchup, mustard, that's it.

Can we start chowing on this now?

Okay 'cause this looks so flipping good.

I'm gonna get messy.

Look at this.

Cheers, baby. Cheers.

This is so good.

[gentle music] [grunting]

I don't wanna put it down.

Too big a bite.

Too big.

They had a camera on me so I went for it.

So good.

Are we supposed to talk?

So you and I don't drink alcohol.

Correct.

So our drinks are limited.

We found something that also stands the test of time.

The Arnold Palmer.

It hits every time.

And for those of you who don't know,

it's tea and lemonade.

Iced tea.

Iced tea and lemonade put together.

Let's see how this mixture is.

It's all about the mixture.

[smacking lips]

It feels like it might have been sitting here

a little too long.

I think it's perhaps a bit light on the lemonade.

Hang on.

There is there only one way to properly,

we gotta at least do this.

Oh, but the handles.

Yeah, I don't know about that.

Probably the worst way to do it.

Yeah, if you go for the big three all night

you're rocking it.

Arnold Palmer, Shirley Temple.

Rob Roy.

Roy Rogers.

Roy Rogers.

You should not complain.

I think Rob Roy's an alcoholic drink.

It's one of the gnarliest.

Yeah.

That's not what you're looking for.

Big night out if you hit all three of those drinks.

Next we are going for the chopped salad at La Scala.

And as I've gotten older,

I realize the value in having a salad.

Yeah.

And if you're gonna do a salad, there's only,

there's the Gigi at the Palm.

The Gigi at the Palm remains, I gotta say.

I love this salad.

But I would say if you're gonna get this salad,

you get extra dressing.

I think this is the salami

and sometimes I do the tuna.

The tuna. Tuna's great.

It's really hot. Tuna's great.

Salami's great, and I put pepperoncinis in it.

Oh yeah, you need pepperoncinis.

I love pepperoncinis.

But it's good.

It's the best.

Onto the next. [gentle music]

If you live in LA or if you're visiting LA,

there are absolutely some places you have to visit.

If I can make it really long, then I can be like,

You know you should reach your cross me.

That's really funny.

Is that stupid? Yeah, you can do that.

No, it's really funny.

Where do you like to go, my man?

I'm going anywhere on the coast.

The best thing about Los Angeles are the beaches

and the proximity to the ocean.

Point me out.

Land me where you want to be.

Okay, let's go further to Malibu.

So we're going along the PCH.

Pacific Coast Highway.

One of my favorite drives in the world, out to Malibu.

Right there.

Point Dume, Malibu, the beach at the end.

Beautiful sunsets, whale watching,

Shumash Indian village relics

and easy access to one of the great surf breaks.

For me I am a recently converted valley boy.

So I now I'm over here.

No, keep moving towards Los Angeles.

No, yeah there's.

Now go to the left, right there.

There.

Studio City, Sherman Oaks. That's right.

That's my, my jam now.

There's some of the best thrift shopping over there.

Some really good food surprisingly,

some of the best sushi in LA.

Is the 101 not even on here, hang on, hang on.

Sad.

I mean if you get the chance to go to the Hollywood Bowl.

Point it out.

Is it's gonna be right, Los Angeles.

So Hollywood's here.

It's right in here. Yeah.

Hollywood Bowl, it's great.

It's the place where Bugs Bunny famously held the note

for so long that it made it collapse.

Historical.

For me, ake it on over to the west side in Venice.

There's great food, Great White.

And the people watching is off, forget it.

Off the charts. Forget it.

And the boardwalk is, you know, a staple.

Oh, and I think everybody should be required

to visit my star on the Hollywood walk.

I don't feel the same.

I think they should.

I don't feel the same.

Just make sure it's like clean.

Yeah, go clean his star.

Speaking of your star.

Walk on the Walk of Fame.

No, what's the restaurant it's right on?

Oh Musso and Frank.

Yeah, isn't that a staple?

I think people should go to Musso and Frank's.

I believe it's the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles.

It's still in service.

Once upon time in Hollywood with Brad Pitt and Leo,

they famously have that scene in the parking lot.

Yeah, Al Pacino too.

Al Pacino. Inside of it.

Been around forever.

Been in hundreds of thousands of movies and like I said,

what is right outside the door of Musso and Frank's,

my star.

All roads lead back.

Hey, not everybody has a good location.

What about the Hollywood sign?

Hollywood sign, yeah.

You can't hike up to it though.

You can hike near it.

You can?

Runyon, try the Runyon hike, it's fun.

Get a glimpse of influencers in the wild.

Check out Runyon. [upbeat music]

We're gonna review some places to go out

for a day in LA.

If we don't like it you're gonna hear about it

from our buzzer.

Getty Center.

Oh yeah.

There's nowhere I have been meaning to go longer

than the Getty Center.

You haven't been?

From the day it was built I've been going

I really need to go there.

In another, what, 40 years I'm gonna get there.

It rocks, it really rocks.

It's as cool as you think it is.

It's beautiful.

I have nothing but good things to say other than the fact

that I've never bothered to go.

No buzzer for that.

Oh there it is.

We know how we feel about this place.

The illustrious Hollywood Bowl,

although it looks like they're doing standup comedian night.

I don't know if I'd go there for that.

What are you talking about?

Get an insert of that shot.

He's singing.

I dunno what's going on here.

It's like an orchestra or something.

Well, at least there's an orchestra.

It's a full orchestra.

And you know, and you picnic.

These seats, you get picnic baskets.

The cutest. It's so fun.

It's the best.

I wanna use the buzzer, but I love these spots.

I know.

It's the best ever.

Chavez Ravine, Dodger Stadium.

Third oldest stadium in baseball.

It is a architectural masterpiece.

I love that, the photo choice

'cause Dodger Stadium on a warm spring or summer night

when you get the sunset like that

and you have the view of the mountains in the background,

it looks like a painting.

You get a baseball game, you get to watch a great team

and you have that view, it's insane.

The only downside is. Parking.

The parking might be the worst parking in the history

of anything that's ever been invented.

It's still the best.

Who would buzzer Dodger Stadium?

Nobody.

Not while I'm around.

This is El Matador Beach.

It's just north of Broad Beach on the PCH.

By the way, if you're up there is Neptune's Net.

It's a biker bar.

Been there forever.

Your fried fish and your calamari and your fish sandwiches.

And right across the street from County Lion Surf Break.

Is that me talking too much?

You're talking too much.

I'm selling the place. [buzzer buzzing]

I really wanted to press the button.

I know you did.

I have nothing against this place.

Some place we gotta buzz.

Oh. [buzzer buzzing]

Now listen, I don't mean to.

This is the Santa Monica Pier.

I would say if it's on your list of places to go

as a tourist and you have to be picky,

this is gonna be one of the more crowded spots you go to.

It's beautiful but crowded. Yeah.

[gentle music]

Here's some LA terms that you might not know.

The industry, it's not the car industry,

it's not the space industry.

It's the industry.

Thank you very much.

Hollywood. Okay.

I dunno what the hell this is.

I'm gonna take a guess at what I think this is.

I'm assuming this is what I refer to as street meat,

which is those vendor carts that roam Los Angeles,

Roam?

You come out of a Rams game, they will run you over.

They'll run you down.

And maybe that's why it's called danger Dog.

I refer, I would refer to it as a danger dog

because of the night you would have if you consume.

And by the way, this is a new thing.

Like I've lived in LA my whole life.

The notion of coming out of a nightclub

at night or a game. Do you have a pen?

Does anybody have a pen or a pencil or something?

Just throw it to me,

I'm just gonna rename this bad boy real quick.

You gonna name it.

This is. Street meat?

Street meat.

Street meat, and you absolutely stay away from street meat.

That is not what you want.

And don't let them run you over when they're,

you're trying to get your automobile in a parking lot.

Yeah. Kickback.

Oh kickback.

Kickback action.

It's a hang.

It's not quite a party, but it's a party.

In Venice, kind of a kickback down there.

It's a kickback.

Let's just all kickback.

Southern California is known for its sort of mellow vibes.

So you don't want to go all out

and say you're having a party.

Oh yeah, Angeleno.

That's what we are.

Ride or die.

Angelenos baby.

It's just, it's in the name.

Oh, the Southland, huh, yeah.

That's?

The Southland, it makes me feel like a newscaster

when I say it.

Whenever you use in Southland, you better be wearing a suit

and being on KABC.

That's all I'm saying.

All across the Southland today

people are mourning the loss of whatever the hell.

Yeah, Southland.

It's everywhere.

It's where we are.

Thank you guys so much for watching

and we hope you can come out and visit LA

and try some of the spots we recommend,

see some of the things we recommend

and come see why we love LA.
