Mystery of the man with no memory found wandering the streets

For five months this man has been living in a twilight world, unaware of who he is or where he comes from.
The mystery man was found wandering the streets having suffered amnesia which has wiped his memory.
The frail man, who does not speak any English and had a cut to his ear, was discovered alone and in a confused state on August 29 2010.
When approached by officers he claimed to be unsure of where he was or how he got there. He is currently detained in hospital.

Despite extensive inquiries both locally and with the immigration services detectives have been unable to identify the man, who is believed to be in his 40s.
Officers released a picture of the nameless man in a desperate bid to find out who he is.
The man stated to officers that he was from Southall when he was discovered over 15 miles away in Barnet, Herts.
Police believe that the Punjabi speaker may have used the name Maninder Singh in the past.
He was described as dark skinned, of thin build and having a grey beard.
When found he was wearing an orange turban, blue zip-up jumper with blue stripes on the arms, denim jeans and black trainers.
'We hope that someone will recognise this man. He was found in a frail and confused condition but despite now being physically well has not regained his memory,' said Police constable Lisette French from the Metropolitan Police Service, Missing Persons Unit.
