The first thing I would do is to attend the remote site and observe the operation in progress. Your “Fresh” eyes on site can possibly pick up issues effecting the location performance. Tour the facility chatting to ALL staff about their jobs and asking them for their input in how to make it a better place to work at. Formulate your plan, gather the site personnel in a meeting (if possible) and inform them of your plan. This greatly helps to rid the site of false information and reduce the fears of the staff. Be open to questions and concerns, be approachable!
